Default How many turns brushed motor for wraith

Good morning guys,

I have a question for you, for a wraith to do some trail run and light crawling, if I don t want to burn my motor, how many turns I need.
I d like to run 2S lipo ( because I habe alot), I want to have good speed too so HH Torquemaster 21, 27'or 35 turns?

Tks

Currently running a 27t HH motor. I liked my 25t way better though. It was noticeably faster. But my 25t was a torque master and my 27t is a crawl master, so I think that's why the 25t is so much faster.

Motor suggestions are confusing to me because I'm not up on turn lingo but kV is like a gearing number in my eyes.

2100 kV and stock gear ratio 4.0 works well crawling on 2 and 3 s. On 3s it has upper speed for bashing.

Since you are wanting to run your 2s batteries and have some speed I think I'd recommend 3000-3300 kV motor.

Then later on you can try 3s for some crazier running speeds

I think I've found the 35t to be in 1500s kV so on 2s lipo it would crawl awesome.

I could be wrong Holmes website doesn't have much info posted on they're motors.
I'll keep digging

I would look at either the Torque Master Expert 27T, Torque Master Pro 27T or the Crawl Master Pro 13T

The Crawl Master Pro is a 5 pole motor so its 13T is about equal to the 27T Torque master. Looking at Kv is better when looking at different motor types

Crawl Master Pro 13t- 2250Kv or 2250 rpm/volt
Torque Master Pro 27t - 2100Kv or 2100 rpm/volt

This will be slower on 2S but will be a good place to be once on 3S.

The more I research the more confused I get. I'm glad I'm running brush less.

I ran across this thread . Its a good read but may confuse matters more

Equivalent KV / turns in motors

I m agree, I made some search and after that I was lost, I need some real experiences.
It seems the torquemaster pro could be good, 27 turns or 2100 kv. The motor is cheaper at Amain compare to holmes web site...

For turns/ KV, each brand is specific so good luck

I run a 2100 kV motor. On 2 cell it crawls very well and goes plenty fast when walking down the trail. It would be slower speed bashing rig. To me its awesome all around speed

I feel there's alot of confusion and info. I really found the wraith motor and gearing thread to be of little help specialty when brushed motors are concerned. Kinda says this motor works for this with these gears with little to no info to show it

My Wraith is a trail rig and rock crawler. I've settled on a 27T HH Torquemaster Pro. It's a beast on 3s and the few times I've run it on 2s it was respectable. Don't try to gear it up too much to gain speed.. If you still feel you need more, you need to bump up the voltage or go brushless.

exackly. voltage is alot like changing the gear ratio. more voltage is a faster speed gear lower voltage is slower.

lower voltage will also produce less power need to kinda have a few batteries to get a feel for what is needed.

turnigy 2200s are cheap enough that a few batteries could be bought in 2s and 3s.

i see people buying batteries from hobby store and paying 60 bucks for 2200s or more for bigger high end lipos. i know i couldnt afford to be in the hobby is it wasnt for online buying used parts and inexspensive turnigy lipos

brushless combos dont have to be exspensive.

I have lot of Nanotech 2S 6000 mah 65C 130C, I ll see how it s work.
I have a castle creation 4poles 3800KV and viper ESC so I ll try to see if I have nough low speed and no cogging but in reality I know the answer...to much power, no low end and tons of cogging but I ll try anyway before buying something....

i dissagree. sensored will be huge help but isnt necisarly mandatory to be very smooth and controlable at low low speeds

3800 kv is fast but might suprise you. a simple gear change could produce some great crawlable results and reduce cogging to livable levels or possibly al but cure cogging alltogether

i was also eyeing the 13.5 turnigy motors.

the motor im running is turnigy and i love it. also fly turnigys in airplanes with no complaints your on the right trcks by looking at turnigy stuff. im sure those nanos you have will work very well

im looking at the turnigy motors and that 13.5 trackstar might be under powerd its only speced at 254 watts.

im not sure how many watts those holmes motors are rated at but i think id try and shoot for the 500-800 watt range

I checked and 5.5 turns and over 7000 KV you have 500 watts........I m pretty sure it s way too much
