Hitec 7980, it has good torque but is a bit bigger (10%) than a standard servo

Like so many here. I have a Hitec 7950 installed with a Castle Creations BEC ready for action. Someday when I have money to finish the Rig it will at least have a Great servo .

best i can figure the 1256 on 7.4 volts is just shy of 400oz. very good option for the wraith. been reading on it and the buggy and truggy guys love it. |

What is the biggest servo I can install without a "BEC"? Do I have to have a BEC? I stripped out the OEM plastic crank arm today so I figured I may as well get a better servo when I fix it.

I crawl a lot with my wraith but don't run any weights. I started out with a Hitec 7955tg and it was dissapointing. I stalled it out way too often. I now have a 7950 and am very very happy. |

Yea but what is the deal with this BEC? I have no idea what one is. Do I have to have one to have a more powerful servo? I mean I am not really into competitions or anything- I just like dicking around in the woods you know, so I don't see why I should throw away gobs of money, but I just want a servo and arm that isn't going to give out on me after 3 battery charges.

| Re: Servos, what are you running? Castle Creations BEC 10A Switching Regulator You need one of these to run any respectable servo.. To give the servo proper power without browning out the whole electrical system.. Plus with the Hitec 7950 I run and similar other servos, they are high voltage and that BEC allows you to determine the exact voltage that the servo will receive. |

So what servo can I run with the stock electrical system if I don't care about respectable? I just want the best servo I can put on there with an aluminum arm- I don't really need a jack hammer. What do you mean browning out?

| Re: Servos, what are you running? He means burning up electrical parts. Not sure how powerful a servo you can run without a bec but if im spending over 100 bucks on a servo I'm gonna spend a extra 20 bucks and wire in a bec to be protected.

copenhagen this is the servo i run. its about 200oz and does very ell dicking around rock crawling and bashing. very very very good servo for the money. the servo in my wraith has seen about 10gallons of fuel on nitro plane then has seen a few hours of run time on my wraith. does damn good for the money. ive got 7-8 eight (maybe more) and none ha ve failed me. you could buy a handfull of these and be set for a long time. i would recomend a metal servo arm because i have broke a few plastic arms with this servo ran this servo on the castle sv2 esc aswell as my 150 trackstar no brown outs and no issues with either esc HXT 10kg Servo (metal gear) 55g / 10kg / .16sec (USA Warehouse) browning out is when the servo draws so much juice and the reciever quits because it doesnt have enough to work anymore. Thank you Evan. My cousin who does RC alot also recommended this servo to me: Hitec HS-5645Mg Digital High Torque MG Servo (HRC35645S) | RC Planet I am officially confused. I guess I'm going to go to the hobby shop on Wednesday and see what they say.

The axial wraith world is one sided. At best and confuses matters more then any side of the hobby I've seen. I'm sure your cousin has some great ideas. I'd definitely take a look at the 7950 and savox 1230 if they have them |

If you're on a budget I understand but you are severely limiting yourself. Save up for a stronger servo if you have to, in the end you'll be glad you did. | |
