I'm running mine into a 1 to 1 gcm transfer case and I have a 65t 32p spur I'm going to start with. Only running a rear shaft will be nice for gearing. I also have the Ud gears mounted to some FI spools. Should be fun. Mine will be here tomorrow. |

| Re: SSD - Wraith Axle Option Parts Whoa, Im confused now. When you say stock gearing and stock trans are you referring to the ring and pinion in the differentials or the spur/ pinion? Im at a ratio of 5.86 now, so if I get this transmission conversion will I lose my low gear for crawling or have both with the advantage of higher wheel speed? Thanks in advance.

This transmission will raise your Final Drive gear Ratio (FRD). If your spur/pinion is 5.86, and your axles are stock 38/13 (2.923:1), your current FDR is 44.53:1 with the stock 2.60 transmission. With the 1.8 trans from SSD your FRD will raise to 30.83:1 if you change nothing else in the driveline. With your current spur/pinion, the optional 43/13 gears in each axle and the 1.8 SSD transmission your FRD would be 34.88:1.

Just doing some theoretical speed calculations my 3s 3300kV PRO4 U4 Wraith trans rig should run about 16mph, this trans would pick it up 6mph to 22mph. It's actually a very similar though slightly higher ratio to the Yeti trans which I believe to be 1.926 Last edited by altd896; 02-24-2015 at 05:49 PM. |

Eric, I thought I had 2 sets of Ud gears but I ended up having a set of UD and a set of hd standard gears. I have a 60 and a 65 t 32 pitch spur and 9t pinion is about my lowest on hand. Will I be able to get good low speed control with this combo? Running 13t torquemaster and Brxl. |

Your 60/9, stock 38/13, and SSD trans will get 35.07. If you put the UD axle gears in both axles with the SSD 1.8 trans The 65/9 with 43/13 is a 42.99 FDR. And the 60/9 with 43/13 is a 39.68 FDR. Can't really say how these ratios will respond to the HH 13t motor, haven't run a 13 turn or any brushed motor in my Wraith yet. But those final drive ratios with the SSD 1.8 transmission and your 65/9 and 60/9 spur and pinion gears are under the stock 32 and 48 pitch Wraith gearing. For reference: An all stock Wraith with 80/20 gears has a 30.399 FDR. All stock with 56/12 32 pitch gears has a 35.46 FDR.

Eric, I want to thank you for your help. This is great to know that I have what it takes on hand to get a good crawl ratio. I will experiment with different combos to find the sweet spot for me and my electronics |

| Re: SSD - Wraith Axle Option Parts With the gearing you have available and a second set of 43/13 under-drive gears, I think you can get a decent crawler ratio with the SSD transmission if/when it's needed and have a lot of speed available as well. If you want to mix the ring and pinion gear sets in the axles you won't need a second set of UD gears.

Got my high ratio tranny today. Fit seems nice but I seem to have an issue. When I tighten down the screw next to the top shaft it seems to be compressing something and it doesn't allow for smooth rotation. A back off the screws a little and it spins fine. I'm using the stock internals. Any ideas? Anyone else having an issue? |

So I messed with it for awhile tonight. After cleaning again and reseating the bearings for the top shaft again the binding seemed to clear up. Next issue was the slipper clutch. When I slid the clutch on and tightened the locknut it was forcing the rear slipper plate against the motor plate. I ended up grinding down the slipper plate a little so that when it was seated on the top shaft pin it didn't make contact with the motor plate. All is well now. People that have ran the ssd-rc Trans what's your thoughts. I made mine a dedicated go fast 332 mph and couldn't keep it on its wheels so I opened the front diff and it made a world of difference
