Default Crawl Spec XR10...Next Chapter - T1E SNIPER

Before I get into the details of my build, I want to thank Axial, Brandon, Brad, and Scott for putting together an excellent kit and for supporting R/C Crawlers. This is the kit that we have been wanting and they delivered. I am so glad that I was able to get mine built before the nationals lcq, because it was just a pleasure to run with those guys.

Current Setup:

Axial XR10
MaxAmps 860 3 cell lipo
Holmes Hobbies BR-XL esc
35t motors
Hitec 7955 servo
Vanquish Products SLW wheels
Vanquish Products Bronze bushings front and rear
Crawl Spec - High Clearance Lower Links
Crawl Spec - LH slug retainer kit for SLW wheels
Spektrum DX3 with Punk dig
Tires - depends on location
Upper links - currently 8-32 all thread bent to shape up front and Kamikaze Kustoms Berg high clearance out back

Future plans:

Crawl Spec - Battery tray
Crawl Spec - Upper Links
Crawl Spec - Steering drag link
Flip steering servo
Futaba 4PL (if the buttons end up working the way I hope they will)
Dual small esc's - either FXR's or Mamba Micro's

Smaller 430mah 3 cell MaxAmps Lipo to reduce overall weight and move pack to front axle.

Chassis is ?? - the current chassis is working fine for me, so I don't see a need to change it. I have been itching to design my own, but haven't really seen the need. I will be picking up some Billet Works shock arms though, as I tweaked 2 of my stock arms already.

Shocks are also ?? - I tried the Proline scale shocks up front for the added steering clearance, but the reduced stroke just wasn't working for me. I have not had much success in keeping the stock shocks from leaking, short of running no oil in them. I am certainly not the best shock builder out there, so I do not blame it all on the shocks themselves. So, for now I have a pair of Losi 4" up front and the 2 least leaky stockers out back until I can nail down what I want to use. I have had good luck with Duratrax shocks in the past, so it will probably end up with those.

I do not currently have any plans to go to bearings in the case, as the bushings are working just fine. Even before putting in the bushings, I have not had a gear failure. The bushings were more of a preventative measure than anything else.

Durability has been excellent, like I mentioned I have not had any gear failures and I have bound this truck up just as hard as I did my Berg. The truck even took a 10ft plunge off a cliff this past weekend and came out unscathed.

Looks good SVEN, nice work on the LH slugs in the v4's. I read your post on that in the wheels section earlier

I've seen this rig at two comps so far and both times it has performed very well. You should post up a few pics of those lower links so people can see what they look like. I had to do a double take when I first saw them this past weekend...nice work!

Thanks Ryan, the rig works well, the driver could use some more practice.
I will get some pics up with just the links.

Those are cool, very nice work. What do they weigh and how much flex do they have?

SVEN always being original with your designs. First your SVP chassis and now these. Way to think outside of the box man!

Under belly as shown in first pics is 3 inches. Total weight ready to run is right at 5lbs 8oz.

Thanks, I will let you know on the weight. I haven't put one on the scale yet. I have not noticed any flex, but I have not abused them. I have a cold weather comp coming up next weekend and will abuse them thoroughly afterward to test durability.

Thanks Eddie! I wish it were closer to me as well, but I'm not going to complain too much about the 3 hr drive. It could be worse.
