not to blow my own horn but I think my wireing job is pretty clean and clutter free!

dual fxr's
BEC under the servo ( hard wired to the servo )
16g wire and micro deans
and everything is in front of the lower link mounting point at the chassis to keep the little sprung weight I do have as forward as possible.

Some of you guys are obviously 11 year old chinese girls because there's no other way to have hands small enough to get stuff that tidy.

2x Mamba Micro Pros
CC BEC
wantAsummit's Dual ESC adaptor for the DX3R
16 ga wire and micro Deans
I trimmed all the extra wire to minimize the clutter, reterminated all servo plugs. Was able to shave .95 oz from the components. Basically shrunk it all into a cube that would fit on the skid. Used double female where needed so all the components(servo,BEC,ESCs) are able to be unplugged and easily reprogrammed.

Your understanding of small wire being a bottleneck is absolutely correct. Wire that is too small will not allow you to pass the current needed, it will heat up, and eventually fail. But how small is too small? Before I made the switch to smaller wire and connectors I did a current study. After running a 5 minute course, I logged the amount of capacity that I used. It was really easy using my charger, as it has the info right on the screen. With 2 30T motors I use on average 120 mAh in 5 minutes. Let's say this is a really tough course and I used 200mAh in 5 minutes. Doing a little math.

200 mAh = .2 Ah = 12 Am (Amp minutes)

Divide that by how long you ran, in my case 5 minutes.

12 Am/5m= 2.4 Amps

2.4 Amps! That is the average current draw for my application

Now you tell me if you need wire that is rated for 100's of amps
Couldn't agree more, I have reduced the wire size I use to create weight savings, I also shorten my servo wires to be the exact length. Less weight, no change in electrical performance.

Yep, it's definitely the right way to do it. It's also easier to snake those thin wires around all the stuff we have shoehorned into the chassis already. I do make it a habit, at least before every big comp, to inspect the wiring along with the mechanics of the truck. The little wires are not very tolerant to bending, good strain relief practice is mandatory
