Yep, I am running them and they are an excellent upgrade! Especially for how cheap they are.

However, I dont believe that the Rowdy battery mounts will work with them without trimming the gearbox slightly...

Just putting my XR together, front axle is done, went with the recommended turn buckle length For the steering @ 11.5mm but once I hooked everything up,I'm far from centered, not sure if they can be shortened anymore.

I'm starting the rear axle tonight.

What's an average for build time on this?is the factory setup alright to start with??

1st crawler,so sorry for the dumb a$$ questions.

A bit of an update:

I still need to rebuild the shocks and limit them some to drop this truck a bit as well as mount my electronics permanently and it will be ready to roll.

Lookin good! How are the RC4wd cases holding up? I've had zero issues with my VP cases, I'm just curious about their performance after time.

Well, I've been letting a new guy in our club drive this truck lately and they seem to be holding up to his driving. He's a pretty darn good driver, but I've had no issues with the cases so far...

BTW, I was wrong about the Rowdy mount not fitting the RC4WD gearboxes.....it fit just fine...I suppose it was just tweaked a little.

Good to hear, thanks. It's nice to have affordable options. How's the SA chassis?

That is the SA4.0. I like it! Nice and compact....light.....the same geometry that I am used to on my berg. It should work out nicely for me.

Well shit--we can't be buds anymore

Looks good.. So compared to a heavy case do you feel its more controllable when having to bump over stuff like sharp /\ type stuff?

Do you mean the gearcase? That definitely slides better than the bergs, but I still feel like I have to baby this truck.....I used to wad up my berg to the point that the XR guys would cringe and it handled that like a champ. We'll see how this truck goes.

I took this truck out for a test run over the weekend. It did pretty well, but does need a bit of tuning.

Here are some progression pics from a line that is fun:

After talking with a buddy and letting him mess with this truck, he pointed out some binding with the shocks. So I went home and immediately swapped out to a similar shock setup as my berg......SCX shocks in the rear and Kyosho RT5 Velvet shocks up front. No more binding!

(never mind the rats nest wiring, I'll get that cleaned up soon)

I also swapped out the rear upper links for a bit more clearance:
