Default Jeremy's XR10

As usual, I am late to the party.

After winning a nice XR chassis (thanks again Chump! ) and the wife not having a clue as to what to get me for my birthday a while back, I ended up with an XR! This will just be a basic build and I plan to use stuff that I have in my garage or got from here quite cheap/free (sponsors, dont be too mad ).

Specs:
XR axles, RC4WD gears and gearcases
Seld-M-Bend rear axle shafts (I'll be picking these up in Vegas)
Wheel Works wheels
Crawler Design Works XR chassis
Fantom 35T Blitz Motors (one had to be sent off for repair after it melted on 4S )
Mamba Max and Punk Dig
Futaba S9157

Pics:

CDW chassis as it arrived:

I am SHOCKED at how tiny this thing is!

Mounted up:

Articulation:
(tire height)

And actually room for a bit more:

Now, I need to figure out how the stock steering works without hitting the motor in one direction and the gearcase in the other. I am guessing I need to flip the middle rod so that the horns on the ends point down. Not what I wanted to do, but I dont see another way and still be able to keep the stock tie rod.

How did you end up with just that rear CF piece? You will cut off that stock steering sooner or later.

The front knuckle is CF also. When the wife ordered the kit, I told her that those pieces were necessary for the truck to work properly....
We'll see on the steering. I figured that I might as well give the stock setup a shot first.

Nice. Those rear links just clear so nicely. The stock steering bar points down to clear the motor and case.

I'd like to see your final RTR weight when she's done. i think it's the skid design that saves the most weight on those CDW's. You can't get much lighter than 1/16" delrin skid with 2 short delrin rods. That's why I'm pirating the design on the second version of my tuber.

Yeah, I will be interested in that as well. As pictured above it weighs 4lb 1oz.

Yeah, that was me, michael and 67c10. We were down there for the whole morning. You should have stopped by! You really need to bring your XR out to one of our comps!

Some Aussie Beef:

You just have to file down the inside of the housing a bit until everything turns without any drag:

These got installed with some new RC4WD gears and gearboxes:

I lengthened the front lowers a bit (4mm each) and here is how the truck sits now:

Thanks Mike! I'll be working on the wiring this evening. However, I still have not received the other repaired motor back from Fantom...

Why aren't you done yet? Give this thing and a couple Monsters to Shelby and it'll be ready to go in the morning

I had the best luck with the shocks in the rear-most top hole f&r, rear uppers were top hole and front uppers were one hole down from the top. I would also outboard the rear uppers, with them that close together it puts a ton of stress on the rod ends and they stretch after a hard fall.
