Sweet trailing arms, no matter what they are made from!
you may try 2000 series aluminium like the 2007 or 2017 , tensile strength is 470 N/mm˛ , it´s less than the 550 N/mm˛ of the 7075 , but way more than the 280 N/mm˛ of the 6061
slightly better surface , faster machining and it´s possible to machine with compressed air cooling

generally the 5000 and 6000 series is perfect for welding , pressing , forming and so , mostly corrosion resistant , lower tensile strength , good breaking elongation

the 2000 and 7000 are perfect to machine , not easy to weld , more corossion susceptible , higher tensile strength , lower breaking elongation

I don't use 7075 on faceplates, your advice is good

Got some track time tonight! Its the first time I've actually raced anything in 6 months and managed 3rd overall in a borrowed sc truck (forgot that I never fixed the blown out ball diff in mine that I killed this spring).

Still don't like the way it jumps, its still wanting to come down on the nose. Then, after several laps it started acting like the drag brake was on, and when I pulled it in for a check-over the motor was super hot. Time to take it apart again...

The good news is I may have an idea for a new part...

Got some wheels cut today. I wanted something simple, but they aren't doing much for me now that they're done. A little too simple IMO...

Those do look nice and simple. Do like. Maybe dimple or faux screw hole the rings for a lil more detail?

Maybe. I dunno. They look ok once they're on the rig, just wasn't quite what I was going for.

Also found the source of the drivetrain drag, accompanied by a horrible noise. Front diff gears are toast. Guess I'll order up a couple hd sets.

Hey Dude, I saw all your custom stuff and it got me the building bug again today, Thanks! Not the same style as yours but doing it my way by hand. Just letting you know that all the stuff on here is inspiring.

Not much to report, and I don't remember what my idea was.

Got hd gears installed front and back earlier this week, and today some Crawler Innovations goodness showed up at my door.

Since 99% of the time I'm going to be bashing and hauling ass with this rig, I figured lighter wheels would be better. They'll get bolted onto the hub service pack as soon as it arrives.

You guys that are running that wheel/foam combo: trim the foam or no? Feels like a really tight squeeze to get everything in its place. Maybe its supposed to be like that?

On go fast I don't trim them, they will break in and soften up a bit. On crawlers I trim all the ribs out in the front only.
