where did you get the CF steering rack?

BTW, i understand the premise of the build, we all dont have the luxury or even the skills to do fabrication. i even hate making my own links. thanks VP for the threaded Ti links!!

look great by the way. i am doing something similar, but i got a roller for CHEAP and stripped it and am going to sell off what i dont need/want.

Steering link is Hot Racing EZ adjust, YET48G01 Aluminum Graphite Steering Bellcrank.
I have had one in my rtr and YXL for about a year and I'm very happy with them.

Did you consider going to stainless fasteners for everything? I was looking at the KNK set but I'm hesitant, as the softer metal is more prone to stripping, but the factory fasteners quickly rust and look like crap if you don't coat them with protectant.

I won't use SS for any of my rigs due to the soft issues. Sure they look nice, but the research I've done shows that SS is unreliable. Protection and maintenance are key. I replace hardware when needed.

Great thread and very inspiring build, I might have a go at it myself. What brand aluminum parts are you using? SSD? STRC? Vanquish? Does it matter, or is the quality of the different brands similar?

It's definitely fun! Ultimately it will be expensive but I'm spreading the cost out over time, hence it will be a long process. After researching I'm trying to use what I feel to be the best parts available. Of course there are lots of opinions on what's best. I have lots of HR upgrades on my Yeti rtr and YXL rtr, ironically my YXL kit is still stock :lmao:
HR has been reliable except for YXL front diff case.
Honestly, I'm all over the place with brands. So far GPM, HR, and Axial.
I plan on SSD 2 speed conversion, haven't decided yet on Vanquish or SSD trailing arms and upper links, also looking at STRC for certain parts ( due to availability). Link mounts will be Axial or Vanquish. Still struggling with choice of motor mount.....Axial, Vanquish, or GPM.

I use SSD trailing arms and vanquish TI upper links. I have chosen the ssd version cause they use rod ends, this defines a break point on my rig which could be fixed cheap and fast 8) (always have some spare with me:mrgreen:). cause on hugh impacts (bad landings with tumbles after jumps in my case - still learning and experimenting) something has to give.:flipoff: before i had upgraded my kit plastic upper links with the axial link plates. not worth the money, they broke after a light slide hit on a wall at slow speed at the ball point on the axle(not covered by the plates:roll:).

as i see u also use the hr adj. steering, how hard is it on yours to adjust it. cause mine is very hard to turn have to use a small plier.

Thanks! I've learned a lot from some of your threads.
I've decided I'll go with Vanquish TI upper links. I'm curious about Vanquish trailing arms "Proprietary rebuildable rod end joint". Anyone out there whose using them please let me know how they are working out.
I also need to use small pliers to adjust HR steering but I can live with it. ;-)

I run the VP trailing arms with no issues. I've just opened up the ends to clean em out and check on things. Used some dry lube before I reassembled them

Making a little progress, got my Axial motor mount today that I paid $60
for from Tower Hobbies, doing some research I find that it's now $29.99. So I immediately sent it back and re purchased it for 1/2 the price. "thumbsup"
Looking forward to install next week.
I need some help from you SSD 2 speed conversion owners.... I only got one servo mount in my delivery and it's obviously plastic ( they advertise Aluminum), I emailed SSD today hoping this will be taken care of. Can anyone give me advice regarding mounting the servo for the SSD conversion?

i think u will need part tree AX31183 Shifter Shift Components
this includes servo mount standard and mini and the shifter

Just download the instructions from axial website the axial version is not much difference to the ssd ;-)

All alloy replacements i found don't Support directly the 2 speed. I think u have to drill a hole so the shifts arm get's throu the housing

SSD 2 speed conversion installed, a little concerned though. I installed it a in a stock Yeti case while waiting for the HR, and the shift action was very smooth. It's hitching and catching a bit in the HR. Some threads I've read say this will "break in" after awhile.
Waiting for spur gear cover, then after that will probably be a long wait saving $$ for motor/ESC.
