I could always use it in one of my YXL’s but really want it for this project.
Some of you have been really helpful (you know who you are) , searched but could find a solution.

I bought a separate mount for this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J4MG1OS

Works like a charm, with a bit of Xacto-knife surgery. I originally tried just mounting it with some servo tape to the flat mount, but it kept coming off. Much more secure with this Mamba ESC cage.

Thank you!
I went ahead and ordered it.
Can you share a pic?

Ok, so mounting the MMX is going to be a PITA! The holes on the RPM plate don’t line up. I’ll probably glue the RPM plate to the stock plate and go from there.

Double tape and zip tie  easy cheap and clean. no pita 8)
just use the correct double tape mine is so sticky that if i have to remove the mmx i'm afraid to break the housing "thumbsup"

Awesome! Thanks :)

But you have to remove the paper on the bottom of the mmx if using double tape to mount. my fault i forgot it first time and on a huge hit my mmx came off. sticker was still hold by the tape:mrgreen:. that's the reason for the zip tie just in case 8)

Sorry, I'll try to post a pic tonight, but the holes lined up perfectly for me. Just my motor mount was in the way, so I had to trim a corner off the ESC cage, and remove one of the mounting points for the ESC switch (there's a mounting point on each side. Just pick one, and remove the other one). What sorts of issues are you running into?

Thanks for your input. There was no way the RPM was going to work. $10 in the trash  nothing lined up nothing fit. Going with Scotch Extreme fasteners on stock mounting plate.

Ugh! So close! I need help please. I’ve been at it for days.
I’ve got everything installed and mounted, gear mesh is good,2 speed action is good. End points seem to be good, I can change gears by hand easily. Everything turns by hand and rolls across floor smoothly. When I connect battery servos and motor fine but the pinion just spins spur and I can’t get the clutch to engage. I’ve tightened the spring 6-8.5 mm, even tried completely tightening it. Haven’t had this problem with my other rigs so I’m stumped.

What do you mean by “getting the clutch to engage?” Are you not getting power to the wheels? If you spin the spur manually do the outputs spin?

I can spin the spur easily by hand and it will spin the transmission shaft turning the wheels.. Under power the spur spins but doesn’t spin the transmission shaft.

Re: From the "tub up"

I’m not sure what spur your running but in the pics on page 3 or 4 it looks like you have both the original style slipper plate(flat washer looking ones) and the vented slipper plates installed. I’d take the washer style ones off and only use the vented style then give it another shot.

Re: From the "tub up"

to check the clutch adjustment put it on the wheels and tide it up to the point where you barley can move the spur. then a little bit more till you can't move it. that's how i did it. all with out movement on the tires.

I don't know what you had trouble with using the rpm cage. That is precisely how I have my MMX mounted in my Yeti. Works perfect. Everything lines up without issue. I might have had to shave the corner of it like roach said, can't remember.

I’m recovering from surgery.... will address mounting esc and clutch issues in a week or so.

I’m baffled :x
I tried without “washer style plates” part# ax31059 ,still no go. I’ve tried completely tightening slipper spring, no go. 2 speed transmission shaft spins freely both directions but when I put everything together and apply power, no go, spur just spins.

What am I missing?

Last piece on the right, you should have 2.

I had tons of problems with my slipper setup on the YXL, and it uses the same slipper parts. The fix was a robinson racing yeti gen 3 slipper set up."thumbsup"

On the back of the slipper pad is a doubletape. You have not glued the slipper pads to the spur.[emoji41]
