Default Mat's Yeti

Finally my Bday present from all the family arrived yesterday!! (possibly the first in the UK?!) I know you've all seen them by now but hey, it's my new toy!! :P

Ooooo boxy!!

More boxyness!!

Ran a pack through last night after doing the standard pre-run checks and it was top fun!! I'm going to keep this on the side of racer rather than crawler and pretty much stock....(Probably not though!) I actually prefer the harder compound tires, getting some great 3 wheel drift action!

I take it that you approve of your new vehicle?
A couple of questions...1. Would you run it box stock in a G6 event?
which leads to 2. What do you think about running in a big event where
all (say 500) racers have the same-looking car? confusing? in other words,
will you keep the stock body? congrats on your new Yeti

Yep, I approve lol! It's a fun and unique truck to drive

Unfortunately where I live there is no real scale scene never mind comps of any sort.

At the moment I'm revelling in its newness but I'm sure it won't be long until I put my own stamp on it

So it took nearly all of 24hrs for me to start putting my stamp on my Yeti...couldn't resist! Mostly concentrating on the looks than performance, I'm more than happy with the stock setup for what I do with it.

First up wheels....the fronts are stock RC4WD Racelines but the rears are using the rear hub from the Yeti, they fit together perfect with no modding. I noticed RC4WD have brought out a range of 5 and 6 lug hub adaptors in different offsets, I'm sure the 6 lug will fit. Might be an alternative to the Vanquish hubs.

Next up the body, I was so close to cutting up the stock body to see what I could do with it but just couldn't bring myself to do it...especially with my fiance giving me the "are you jeffing serious" look, for wanting to hack up my bday present!

So decided to make my own panels in the end. (much safer task!). I also lowered the cockpit a little on the back end. Just wasn't digging the raked look.

Here's a little vid of my Yeti on 2s. More than enough for my garden! Just love the way it drives

I like the spare tire mounted on the rear. Is that a part you can purchase or is this a mod?

Really like the look of the rig. What did you make the panels out of?

Default Mat's Yeti

It's not my rig but I've made one similar - you use styrene sheets, 1mm or less thick. To shape them is easy, just heat them up with the mrs' hair dryer...

Where the fan grills mount to the radiator, there's 2 little holes in the radiator to stop the grills spinning, I drilled the outer one on each side of the rad and tapped it to 2.5mm. I used some sticky back foam strip rapped around the frame then used some small "P" clips over the foam (the foam stops the P-clips sliding around)...and what do you know...the holes in the P-clips line up with the holes in the rad!! A bit of a fiddle but it seems solid.

Also made a little dirt guard....

.....and a de-bling!

Sorry for jumping on an old thread, but I finally was allowed to open one present of my choice on xmas eve, of course I went for the rc box shaped one, and my pops and I were trying to figure out how to run a hose from the gas cap to the fuel cell.. just wondering how you managed to mount yours! Love your ride man looks great! Happy holidays!

Sorry for the late reply to this.

Use a longish screw through the gas cap and fuel cell then used some rc fuel hose and push it on to the screw, holds well Happy Holidays to you too

Small update, thought I'd give these GPM beadlock front face replacements a try. They went together sweet and seem to hold the bead tight (yet to run them for a proper test). My Vanquish hubs wouldn't fit straight off, the bolt holes would need drilling out.
