Default OCRCRC 2012 series info.

Since we are running another season of OCRCRC, we decided to change things up a bit.

1. Courses- We will be running 4 courses with a 6 minute time limit. Instead of running a 10 gate course with 1 bonus gate, here is what we are going to do
instead.
a. Forward and reverse. You will run the course gates 1-10, stop time, turn around and start again from gate 10-1 until your 6 minutes is up. Reverses don’t count but your first penalty (gate touch, roll over, reposition) will end your run.
b. 20 gates with no bonus.
c. 10 gates with 10 bonuses.
d. Surprise!

2. Judging- We will be running a season long “judge in” where every time you judge you are put on a master list and you will get 1 raffle ticket. This list will be used to award raffle prizes at the end of the season.
a. We are talking to Axial, Hot Bodies and local hobby shops to have prizes donated for the raffle. Everything from truck kits to electronics will be available.
b. The more times you judge, the greater chance you have of winning.
c. All judges will walk away with at least one price at the final comp.

3. Classes-
a. We will be running 2.2 pro and 1.9’s.
i. No sportsman classes.

4. Comp dates and locations-
a. Our comp dates have been listed and we will not vary from them unless weather makes it impossible to comp.
b. Our first comp will be at Nature Park in Foothill Ranch. We will be running the KOTP (King of the Park) style race after the 2.2 comp is finished.
i. More details to follow.
c. Our second comp will be held at Corona Del Mar
i. This will be open to the first 30 people that sign up.
ii. Priority will be given to OCRCRC points series members first, and then opened up from there.
d. Comps 3-5 are YTBD.

5. Donations-
a. We will be asking for a one time, $5.00 donation at the first comp (or any comp thereafter) to help cover some of the costs for Trophies.
b. Trophies will be awarded to 1st thru 5th place finishers in the points series.

6. Regional spots-
a. 1st thru 5th place will be awarded a spot in the Southern California Regional event to be held sometime in mid-June.
b. If you do not sign up for the points series by the end of the first comp, you will not be eligible for the points series.
c. If a driver qualifies in more than one clubs points series, they will take that spot from both clubs. No exceptions.

We are looking forward to a fun year with the OCRCRC club. Thanks to all of you that have already signed up for our points series. This should prove to be a very competitive shoot out for a regional spot.

Hey Mike,

Here is a link to Corona Del Mar state beach. You can park in the lot by the rocks ($15.00) or park up on the street for free.

Just make sure you are aware of pedestrians on the rocks as we don't want to cause any problems with the "patrol" down there.

Can I play?

Where are the events listed. Very interested to try a comp. I've been racing for a while and Crawling has my full attention at the moment. I have an axial wraith and an scx10 honcho. 2.2 and 1.9. Can I do both classes?

Sweet!

Here is a link to SoCal's site with the dates for our comps listed.
OCRCRC 2011-2012 Series Schedule

You are more than welcome to come out to the first comp and give it a try. If you are just running a Wraith and SCX, you'll have tough time with the comps though. Not that you can't do it, it's just not recommended for the courses we setup to run the trucks you are running.

Most guys are either running an XR10 or Berg 2.2 MOA (there's a few shafties left but not many). The 1.9's or "mini's" are typically a Losi based MRC designed for the courses.

Again, were glad to have you, just wanted to make you aware of what were doing at these comps.

Does anyone organize trail runs in Orange County that are just for fun and not necessarily a competition?

There's a group of guys that go the Corona Del Mar state beach every wednesday and scale crawl.

I'd like to get back into doing some more scaling / Wraithing (if that's a word) as well.

I need to check that out...but pretty soon it'll be dark at 5pm - that doesn't leave much time to crawl after work

Hey Tron, we still crawl after the sun goes down. If you dont have lights on your rig it is a little tougher, but doable. I myself am not there every single Wed. but I do get there. As for a trail run, there arent alot of "real" good places, but you can always find a river trail somwhere.
