Eric,

Probably the best thing to do is to check out everyone's rigs at the get together in a couple of weeks. You will see why we all changed from stock and what we did.

good luck

Tom

Yeah, I don't think any two of us has a similar rig (other than axles, cept for bill c with his clod)

So my crawler is finally crawling.... not to the best of it's abilities at all though...

(first crawler, so i thought i'd start with a kit and build from there...)

Specs:
-TLT axles
-Junfac/Tracer kit (links, braces, chassis plates)
-Tamiya Wild Dagger wheels w/Yoko Geolandars (planning to reduce foam/add bb's depending on terrain)
-(here's the painful part) stock tamiya "gold" motor (you know... the 20 turn, enclosed endbell starter kit motor, from an M-03) and (hears screams)...Stock gearing.... running off the Teu-101 bk esc (the 19 turn capable stock speed control)

the list of modifications to do today:

Pick up a 90 tooth spur (from RC country)
wire up and Install the 45t integy lathe w/the 12t pinion i have
possibly pick up bigger than stock shocks (Maxx)
LOCK CENTER DIFF....(yea, forgot to mention that i was running the stock ball diff fully tightened (i also broke the screw that holds the diff together...))

I know they all seem like noob comments, but i HAD to get this thing running last nite so i could at least see it run..and surprisingly, w/stock gearing and the 20 turn motor it was able to scale an 8x8 box .. i didnt think the motor could produce the power needed to scale a sheer wall

QUESTION: what is a proper resistor to run on my 45t motor (yes i will look for the answer myself later today, but asking if anyone has any idea off the top of their head i.e. what you're running) - my 19t has a 102k ~ my guess is 100k should be good

I gotta bring back this idea , because it rocks. I 'll put up some food and a case when you put that together.
