I don't have a problem with most cops, never had. In my past experience, the only ones who've had problems with cops are ones who've had run-ins with them. Keep posting.... It makes me agree more and more with k9popo that people like you offer people like him job security | |

I have had a similiar experience to the OG story when my wife was pregnant with our second kid. She needed imediate medical attention, and we didn't live that far from the hospital. I figured it would be faster to drive her than weight for an ambulance. I was driving way over the speed limit and got pulled over. When the Cop saw what was going on he escorted us to the hospital. I don't think all Cops should be labeled bad, I know there are bad ones but we have to remember that Cops are people that make mistakes too. When they do screw up it can sometimes mean life or death. Cops never know what to expect and therefore always expect the worse. The Cop in the story is obviously a douche with no common sense. The doors on our cop cars say "To Protect and To Serve". Sometimes like in the OG story I think they might forget the last part of that saying. I for one am thankfull for our police force I can only hope they have enough common sense to take all facts into account before acting. |

| See....that is what sucks. We are asking a LOT of our cops (and other public service folks), but dont compensate worth a shit....so, what do they get out of it? A little bit of power. And some of them let it go to their heads. I seriously think that this would not be a problem if we compensated them at a level that was appropriate for the amount of responsibility that we give them...

It might say serve before protect, Im not sure now that you mention it. A friend of mine is a State Trooper and some of the on the job stories he has told me just makes me sick. I don't think most people realize the scum you guys deal with on a daily basis. My hats off to you and all the good ones that don't take advantage of the position they are in. |

I tend to have an issue with cops a well. Am I a bad guy? NO Are all cops bad? NO Just like not all four wheelers are bad, but the tree nazis want people to think so. If everyone would take responsibility for their own actions regardless what side of the law they are on we would have less issues and less regulations. The sand box is big enough for everyone to play in!

I find it funny that no one has stated the obvious. The guy driving his wife was in the wrong & knowingly broke the law. Period. Any cop (I would hope) that see's somebody running stoplights is going to pull them over/try to stop them. That's their job. This is the reason we have things like 911, EMT's, ambulances, etc. This would be the legal way of handling an emergency & avoid situations such as this. The turning point for the cop was the douchebag move at the ER entrance. Nevertheless, this could just as easily happend on the side of the road & the law is the law. |

| Yeah, I noticed that they did not mention whether or not the driver had his hazard lights on (he should have)...but I dont know if that was the news manipulating the story or not. Either way, after the cop stopped them (fully within the law and doing his job well) and realized the situation, he should have escorted the vehicle to the ER....not blocked their path.
