It wouldn't be a beater if I paid nearly double for the Henry. My dad has a simple .22lr Henry and it's a keeper. Open sights is as good as my scoped 10/22 to me.

Gotcha, and nothing wrong with a beater, got a couple of those myself. I just happened to be looking on Buds when I saw your post, some of the Henry's were only a couple hundred more than the Rossi of the same caliber. I've come to love Buds and GunBroker both, and my local FFL does the transfer for $15, no muss no fuss. Dammit, now I want a lever gun.

I did some more online research and I'm going for the Rossi now. I'll cruise all the local pawn shops for an older Marlin or a used Henry before placing an order for the Rossi. A 45-70 isn't out of the question either. But I'd prefer something I can pack through the woods or load up on the tractor and not worry about marring the blue or rust.

Oh yeah, I understand that. The 45-70 would be cool as hell because of the history of it. Not sure about finding ammo or the cost of it though. BUT, a good 30-30 is tough to beat, and I woulnd't pass up one in .357 either. I already have plans for the my firearm money for this year, or you'd be really tempting me on a lever gun.

So I've been interested in the .300 blackout round for a while now, and so I decided on a .300 blackout build for my deer gun for next season (at least that's my excuse for another gun build ), and parts are starting to roll in so I thought I'd post up a few pics. It will be built up as a pistol, and the lower was transferred as such until I file for and receive my stamp to go the SBR route. I'll update as stuff shows up.

Canik TP9 SA here. Not new to guns but it's the first pistol I own on paper. Only put 100rds through it so far just last weekend but so far am loving it. Next buy will be a very budget friendly AR in a .223/5.56 flavor.

Lower is done with the exception of the take down / pivot pins and buffer setup which I'm waiting on.

Got some more stuff in yesterday. My complete upper, my muzzle brake, and KAK shockwave pistol buffer tube and pistol brace, and 250rds of ammo. End plate and castle nut should be here today and she'll be done until I decide on an optic.

Using the clevis pin trick to install the pivot pin spring and detent worked like a champ. You simply line up a hole in the pin with the hole in the receiver, drop the pin and spring in, then use a punch to push them both down and rotate until the pin holds them in place, easy peasy.

Then just butt the pivot pin up and slide through and rotate until the detent catches in the notch.

Also installed a 5 slot keymod rail section, and cut down and sanded an extra LaRue tactical hand stop to fit, and installed my brake.

Well, she's finished, for now. Stole my Aimpoint off my 16" (it has BUIS) until I decide on an optic. I also broke out the camera gear and tried to get creative, or failed miserably , not sure which. Default Gun and knife picture thread!

Picked it up this morning, 2 boxes of flat nosed .44m for it, and two boxes of the ever elusive mini mags.

Personally I really like the grip, although some have complained about the 'pyramids' on the front and rear being too aggressive. Recoil was typical of any 9mm, fairly minimal.

I won't comment too much on accuracy because it's been years since I've shot a pistol but there are several youtube vids of more regular shooters hitting a man sized target at 25yds with this model. If I can work myself up to that I'd be more than happy for a home defense or even carry. This was a few rounds from 15yds weekend before last.

And I picked this up the other day from a local GS, as if 18rds aren't enough.

Sig Sauer SP2022 9mm w/ 17rnd Mag + 15rnd Backup mag

And yes, before anyone asks there is a round chambered at all times, even at home. I am at work in these pictures....Armed Security. It is a dual stage trigger with a decocker, no external safety except for the booger finger.
