Who has a sim cockpit and what are you running? After sim racing since about 1989, I'm thinking it may finally be time to make the leap. Ha! I want something sturdy that won't wobble about when wrestling with the wheel and, of course, it must be budget friendly.

My most likely option is the Ricmotech plans and then to build it myself over a weekend, but I'm open to other suggestions!
RS1 DIY Cockpit Plans and Templates

Thanks!

Pcars 2 looks good, but I'll wait for reviews once it's actually out.

Tommy, what is your budget? If I had it to do over again, I'd go 80/20 on my cockpit since you can always add / remove things and adapt it in the future. Pre-fabbed from 4 play racing on ebay is around $650, though there are plans out there for DIY 80/20 rigs.

Alternatively, I've been happy with my GT Omega Racing stuff, and they do free shipping which is nice on that large of an item.

It's funny you mention that, Randy! 80/20 is the competitor for the product line I sell. Bosch invented that technology in the '70s and 80/20 (and others) copied it when the patent expired. I've been thinking of using it to make the cockpit, but even with a discount I'm not sure it'll be in the budget. I'll look into it, though!

Now that you mention that, I remember you telling me that one night while turning laps. No doubt, I'll forget again before it comes up again. The GT Omega ART setup is $400 with race seat, tough to beat with free shipping.

woot! you will LOVE a cockpit, will take your driving to the next level not that you need that.

me and steve are both running RaceRoom RR3055
https://www.raceroomstore.com/us/list_page?cat=18
$299

ive been super happy with it. they also have a ton of add on accessories.(monitor, keyboard, speaker, tower, and shifter mounts. the only one i bought was the shifter mount.
they also come predrilled for logitech wheels and pedals, they also now come drilled for Thrustmaster and maybe others (our older models only came with logitech holes)
its super sturdy. its also fully adjsutable on pedal distance and seperatly wheel distance to perfect your driving position.
one thing to look for that was important to me, i didnt want to have to step over anything to get into the seat, weather supports on the side, or a center bar between your legs.
i also like the large size of the 1x3 tubing. rigid and not floppy.

Those cockpits look so bad ass.

I got my first pole and first win on dirt this morning in the 305 sprint cars - Woohoo!

The competition wasn't the stiffest, but I'll take it.

BTW if you guys want Spintires and don't have it get it now! The Steam key is on sale for $4.49!!! That's 85% off the normal price.

I bought the wingless sprint car for iRacing. Holy crap! That thing is uncontrollable for me. A huge contrast to the winged sprinters.

Not very Sim-ish, but Hotwheels DLC coming May 9th for Forza Horizon 3 - includes 2007 Toyota Hilux Arctic Trucks AT38 , 2016 Jeep Trailcat (Hellcat motor), 4 Hotwheels cars, and others.

Hotwheels tracks scaled up for the vehicles as well.

Not so interested in the tracks - but the Hillux Arctic is going to be sweet!

I'm becoming decently fast with the Dirt Late Models. Of course those are the cars I don't have as much interest in. :P I won a couple of poles last week, but I choked every time and didn't get any wins. Last night I ran away from the field from the start, but I started rushing into corners instead of finessing it and I dropped down to 5th by the end of the race. Cough, cough, choke! The track conditions were crap and it had a blue groove from the start. I'm not sure why they did that.

I'm still trying to get faster at sprint cars. I'm not nearly as fast with those and I'm not sure why. As of last night I was in the top 50 in the rankings in my class, but that's far below my rankings of Late Models (9th) and SK Modifieds (18th).

I got my oval C license last night after mainly racing late model and sprint cars on dirt. Woohoo!

I was as high as 5th in the late model series. I'm currently sitting in 6th place.

Are any of you guys racing dirt?

Been playing the Hot Wheels DLC for Forza Horizon - the Hilux Arctic Tundra has a diesel engine, pretty sure it's the only diesel vehicle in the whole game. Have to drive it sloooowww..... or it tips over.

The Jeep TrailCat, however - it's friggin' fantastic to drive. It drives like a U4 rig, fast and stable. Have managed to crawl on rocks in the game that nothing else will get up on without hanging up.

Has a split personality - acts like a rock bouncer sometimes... I hit some train tracks on a slightly-elevated gravel base and performed my first perfect backflip, landed flat and in control.

It was sky-high, too - but the game isn't programmed to give points for that stunt!

The actual Hot Wheels level is of limited fun, cause the orange rack is way to slippery to drive fast on - driving around the island on the sand is fine, though.

And if you're in that Trailcat, there are several small vertical hillclimbs you can launch yourself up and over, it's like you're in a tropical beachfront version of a MadRam11 YouTube video!

lap time challenge

Radical SR8 @ Nurburgring Nordschleife Industriefahrten

Time of day afternoon, default weather, no tuning, Medium Downforce tune only.

Ive been waiting for this all season! The Big Finale!
Due to its complexity this season finale will be worth DOUBLE POINTS! It will also be open for two weeks. you can attempt and post times as many times as you like. your fastest time will be the one accepted.
Good luck, post your times in this thread

Bonus!
This is optional. but if you do go the extra mile, it will make your time worth QUADRUPLE POINTS.
Post your fast lap on Youtube and post it here.It doesn't have to have any fancy editing or anything. just a replay etc.

If you do not have any Capture software i use Bandicam.
Its free and very easy to use/setup. unlike OBS.
https://www.bandicam.com/

good luck and have fun!

Windows 10 has built in screen capture software for those that don't know.

For video?

I've tried Bandicam a couple times and notice a jumpy image when it's running so I just turned it off. Any suggestions to smooth it out? Maybe I have a setting wrong?

Yes, for video.

I didn't like Bandicam either. There are plenty of open source apps such as https://obsproject.com/

LOL, iRacing gives you the option to save your replay, no need to capture anything.

You can't view the saves outside of iRacing unless I'm missing something. You need a screen capture app in order to upload it to YouTube.

I could swear I have never had to do a screencap, it saves them to a folder on your PC. All you gotta do is upload.
