could be turbo(s). they definatly change exhaust note.
also i would not be suprised if a motor with less than 8 cylinders is offered. especially for motorsports use.

The way of the new world seems to be blown 4 poppers and 6 cylinders in place of V8s. Ghey. GM is V8s. No V8s at GM means GM is dead to me.

If Caddy is getting a new V8 I can't see the Corvette being anything other than a V8.

Do you really think Cadillac engineers don't know about heat soak?

Considering all the widespread reports of heat soak issues in the Z06 and ZR1 C7 platforms, I'm gonna go with they know about it, but don't fix it.

Although a real issue, wasn't that problem overblown on the internet just like every other issue?

Chevy's heat issues are minor compared to cars costing twice as much more more...

keep in mind cadillac engineers are the same ones that put the starter UNDER the intake manifold on the Northstar V8!

a couple corrections here from the local chevy nutcase

heat soak and overheating are different issues.

the C7 Z06(which came out first) had the overheating issues. tiny grill + supercharger + 650 HP + driving hard = recipe for disaster.

the later released C7 ZR1 added giant grill openings and 13 radiators/heat exchangers and more hood venting. and 755 friggin horse ponies! and NO overheating issues

jato beat me to it. that caddy design just looks liek a recipe for engine fires like all the ferraris and lambos.

I'm simply going off of what I've read in testing of those cars. Don't own one and likely never will.

What hpiguy said. My 2011 Mustang GT with Whipple supercharger would heat soak so bad that it felt like it was down 100 hp if you sat in any amount of traffic and that was with no turbos next to it.

I didn't even think about the engine fire potential for that design. I'm sure that is a direct injection caddy motor, correct?

if its an engine fire issue, wouldn't fords 7.3 and 6.0 powerchokes have the same issues? I mean the turbo on a 6.0 was right in between the heads where the intake was....

Starter placement wasn't even a top 5 problem on the northstar, the rest of that engine was such an abysmal shit show it didn't matter.

Lexus/Toyota V8 have had the starter under the intake since the early 90's and they are fine.

That Corvette is hideous, the Camaro taillights look fine though.

At least you wouldn't have to worry about the exhaust frying a starter there though

This, the exhaust ports exit the head into the V, while the intake ports are on the sides of the engine, it'll probably have more in common with the Ford-Gurney V-8 than most other non diesel V-8s.

It does look pretty good but it has lost it's distinguishing features that made it somewhat unique and easily identifiable on the road. Now it just looks like every other super car out there.
