Patrick is trying to do the right thing, sadly though the right thing sometimes takes time.

Here are just some ideas for you all about some of the expenses of permits. They charge $5.00 per person that will be in attendance. Depending on the location and the terrain they also require either a $1M or $2M insurance policy.

I'd love to be part of this event, but I think with the timing of things and the terrain between denver and grand junction (all mountains) i am thinking the event is gonna have to wait until the spring. The weather here in Denver will be nice for the next 2 months, the weather in Junction will be nice for the next 2 months, but in the middle there it could be a blizzard anytime now.
well said, i think spring is the perfect time to have this comp. more time to get thing really organized. an event of this size can be tough even with time . let get it dialed in then draw battle lines.

Having the extra planning does sound good for this. I'll go ahead and let everyone know here that this will be put off until sometime next year in the spring.

Hey guys, it is time we start planning for this event again. Would it be fun if we have a barbecue for everyone? Camp out for a day or two? Barbecue a pig? We may need a port-a-potty. I really don't think we would need a permit for this. I go camping every year with a group of people I bowl with, about a hundred people, and we haven't yet run into a problem.

Yeah, I know, I'm just excited about my Moab trip... Maybe somewhere halfway for west and east side, in the mountains where we can camp and party.

That would be cool, but I would wait to get a head count and this planned before dropping money on trophies

I would have to imagine there is a Buffalo Creek type place between Denver and Gj somewhere

I am glad to hear that this is still alive. Saw the pics of your turnout Matt, looks like you guys have a good base of crawlers on the Westside

I know there could be some great places at Rifle Gap. But, it is closer to Grand Junciton than Denver. Does any one do any camping closer to the Eagle / Vail area that might know of a good spot?

If I remember right, there are some really good spots going up toward Homestake Reservoir.

I need to take a trip up there and find out anyway. I can let you know.

It will probably be in late April before I get up there.

I used to go camping at turquoise lake when I was a kid. It was one of my favorite spots, but it's been so long since I've been there I can't even remember it:-( I've not even thought about it in years.

I vote some of us go up on a scouting trip with Ed. He's pretty near half way, being around Vail and all. I guess gypsum/Eagle is about half way between denver and junction, so if anyone else around there knows any good spots feel free to chime in. I'll always be down for a good scouting trip
