You should just go 100% sure, you'll kick yourself first time you are crawling with someone who has a FX-R if you don't.

The FX-R combo is an amazing setup and you won't be disappointed at all in purchasing the set. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. |

I got one of these Tekin crawler packages in September and I haven't looked back, it blows the Novak products out of the water ( I tried the Goat and Rooster). I'm so happy with the Tekin, I'm about to buy another one for my 1.9 scaler. I didn't buy a hotwire kit, but I'm sorta interested in learing a bit more about it. Is it possible to set the drag brake to something higer than 11 using the hotwire? My comp rig is heavy, so even with the setting at 11, it will give the rig a very controlled desent, but it won't hold the rig on a hill. I want to be able to stop on a hill and have gravity drag the rig downhill with the tires skidding the whole way! |

Glad I found this thread. Looking for something to run my Rock Force Super build. I have heard alot about 2.2, but thinking the FX-R would be a good choice for the super with a HH 7T puller. What do you think?

I had a good Tekin moment yesterday at the East Coast Indoor Challenge I wanted to share. We had a climb up a steep carpet covered wall, a short top section about 10 inches wide with gates, then back down a carpet covered steep wall. The thing was about 4 feet tall, and it was a pain in the butt. I was watching the guys try to come back down the wall and a lot of the time they were flipping forward because of the drag brake being too much, or flooring it down the wall only to smash into the ground and usually flip over, and sometimes into a gate. Field tune the controller! I put my drag brake setting to the first LED, so hardly any drag at all, but there's some there. I went up the wall, went through the gates, then back down in a small nose wheelie and landed on all four tires. Sweet. |

Excellent!!! I field tune my FX-R at every comp. So many variables can change the traction that you get and as such the ESC needs to be tuned to fit the situation. It adds a whole other aspect to crawling |

I wonder if i'm in the same boat for the cc bec I also just started using a 3 cell lipo for the first time on my ax10 and when it got in a bind...it just stopped, not even reverse....i picked it up, away from the wall i was climbing, put it on flat ground, and it was ok? this happened to me a few more times, one time a was just trying to turn real sharp against an object...but once i pull it away and in the clearing it's ok? so do i need a bec? FX-r (not pro, the $100 one) airtronics MX-3 w/dig modified Battery: 3cell 1500mah fully charged crawler weight: 5.9 lbs motor: 55s turn Integy one steering servo: HS645MG I would try my 2 cell...but i changed my whole set-up and it no longer fits I will try to fit my 7 cell saddle pack nimh in it today and try it note: all batt. are charged also tx & rx thanks for any help | |

Yep...the more voltage you put into the ESC, the less power goes to your servos. You will need a BEC unit to cure that problem (CCBEC or Novak 5A-6V BEC).
