Default Lipo for Nomadio React

What lipos are you guys using for the React? The old NiMH in this thing wont hold a charge worth a damn anymore. I am assuming that the max input voltage for this unit will be a 2S lipo and was considering a smaller Thunder Power pack since they are built with JST connector.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Hey Jeremy, I measured in mine and I can fit a 2200 turningy 20c. So I am going to order some of them off Hobby City soon.

Also, I am going to use a bec set to 6v, and set the alarm on the radio to kick in at 5.9v. I know thats a little lower than ideal cutoff voltage but these packs are cheap and I'm ok with it.

So, what's the max voltage that these things can handle?? Do you know the capacity of the stock pack?

If you give it over 6v it'll go nuts. You can use a 2s lipo with a voltage regulator to keep it under 6 and it'll be fine and last a looooong time. Shane runs his that way and is pretty happy with it. I'm going to be doing the same thing to mine very shortly.

In Shane_744's lipo React thread he said they don't like much more than 6 volts.

I use mine with the Spektrum Micro and set it to DSSSS Beta...

Thanks for the info on the lipo/BEC setup for this Tx.

Hey guys, I've been running a 2000mah Elite 6-cell nimh battey pack in mine for about 8 months with no problems (maybe I've been lucky). Fully charged I'm at 8.9 volts and the battery lasts at least 4 to 5 hours.

IIRC, this is the one that I have in my comp 2.2:

It's $15 cheaper after you add it to your cart.

So, this is without a BEC? The screen on the Tx reads 8.9V when he installs the battery? Hummm.....interesting.

Hmmmm....

See I'm debating whether or not to sell my React and pick up the KO Propo EX-5UR with dual recievers...I keep swaying back and forth on it...

Here ya go. Been running this setup since sept. 2009. No issues. I have charged it like maybe 5 times since then.

Note, the extremely cheap/easy battery voltage readout I discovered too.

It runs my React at ~6.08v. I read on the Nomadio board to not push it over 6v. But it's been 7 months at the volts above with no issues.

How much are replacement KO RXs? I am sure that the React works well with other, cheaper Spektrum receivers. I just had this micro in my comp rig that I was using with a DX3R and was able to bind it to the React.

BTW, for those using Spektrum receivers with the react, is there a way to get it to stop asking you "operate in beta mode" upon startup??

Shane, that's a sweet setup! What runtime are you getting on that? I was used to getting more than a week's worth of use on my DX3R with 4AAs...

RPP shows KO's rx's to be $70. The EX-5UR comes with two already though.

They also have the Spektrum SR300 for $65...I wonder if that is Nomadio compatible.

Yeah, I have been wondering that same thing about the SR300. BTW, www.thebarnfloor.com lists the SR300 for $46 after you add it to your cart.

I looked over on RCTech and several people are using the 300's with thier Nomadios. Sweet.

I guess the "beta" screen is the price you pay for not running a Nomadio receiver though...

Thanks. That was found after months of cussing at the AA setup and searching for the right pack/regulator.

I know I have not charged it more than 10 times since september 09'. I usually run 1-2 comps a month, plus mini e-revo running, and scaler running.
And when i did put it on the charger it was never below 7.4 volts!
You need a few JST connectors and a deans. Have to swap some JST's on that particular regulator. I just added a JST to the lipo and left the deans for charging and the JST for the React.

The only downside is you have to open up the bottom and plug the regulator into the lipo everytime you want to run. Or you risk the chance of the regulator running down the lipo. probably would take forever though. I just always plug/unplug the lipo from the regulator and leave the regulator plugged into the react.
