ive been running mine on 3s for over a year now..no problems.

running power on a small 800mah 3s thru the main control board.

as long as your not trying to pull a gang of trucks you'll be good.

Im glad you asked this. I purchased a very small 2cell 400mah to run mine. The baby lipo works ok but my rig is a pig and might not allow enough grunt.

I nearly burned my rig down on 3s but it could have been a fluke in the winch controller the pos and neg wires are so close together and usualy loose..

If your going to run a second battery and a lipo at that for the winch put in a lipo cutoff, that little winch can kill a 1050mah 2s in 2-3 pulls you will ruin a battery before you even realize it.

Or you could do what I did and run a cc bec directly to the winch controller and set it to whatever voltage works best I have mine @8v and if the battery gets too low LVC on my esc kicks in

thats all ive run my winches with..(4 of them) on 3s,stock board.

like i said as long as your not trying to do a chain gang pull it will
be fine.

and yes,a lipo cut off wouldnt be a bad idea.

I haven't run mine long enough to know but well say I'm not that impressed with 3 racing controller looks a little cheap but looks some times are deceiving. Do you got some thing better? I have been to your site you got some cool stuff there but looks like mostly for servo winches and I'm really not ready to go to a servo winch yet.

All my winch controllers will work on the 3 racing winch. I actually offer the controllers with a JST plug output option so you can just plug into your winch and not have to solder. Of course, if you want to save a couple of bucks, get the controller without the JST connector and solder it to your 3 racing winch.

To see more details about the various controllers, the link in my sig will get you to a thread about each product.

For you guys that want to run 3S, my relay output controllers will get the job done.

Any body know how (or could test) much current a 3r winch draws?

This controller will also work with any two wire Bulldog winch. Plus this simplifies the installation and make it just a plug and play, with zero winch creep as well.

So you don't need a separate battery for winch with this setup it runs though the rx with the addition of a bec powring the rx of course?

Might as well post links...

The one I pictured runs from a max of 6 volts and gets its power from the receiver connection.

The controllers in the last two links can run more than 6 volts.

Winch Controller for Radio with Three Position Channel

Winch Controller for Radio with 2 Position Third Channel

Higher Voltage Winch Controller

Relay Driven - External Power - Winch Controllers

Can you use the relay controllers on a servo winch without creep?
