Default Brushed motor connectors

Am I able to use traxxas connectors from the esc to motor for a brushed motor?
I know some use deans. But are traxxas fine to do it?

The only motor connector I use is 60/40 solder.

Not at all. Just sharing what I use since I don't see any point in putting connectors between the esc and motor. This is a discussion forum... Right?

I have used Deans for years on both motor & battery connections.

With a connector on my motor I can swap a motor out in minutes in the field with hand tools only.
Someday I will get a wireless soldering Iron, maybe.

Is that something you have to do? I must have really good luck (or really well maintained motors). Do you carry extra motors in your pocket?

If I feel the need to swap out a motor I would have to walk back over to my truck anyway since I am not about to carry every spare part with me. Since I'm at my truck to get a motor anyways I can just plug in the soldering iron and in about 20 seconds its hot and ready to swap wires. I wouldn't even have the motor half way pulled out before the iron is ready.

I'm certainly not telling anyone what they should do with their rig, I'm just saying what I do with mine.

Really? Ego? Why does me sharing my experience bother you so much?

Since you are going with a polarized connector make sure you are installing the wires in the correct order before you heat your shrink wrap.

Traxxas connectors suck. I use dean's also. Connectors rather than a straight solder job are nice for motor swaps. Then you can have an extra soldered up with leads in it to swap out incase you smoke a motor durung a comp or while out playing. Makes it real easy to swap another in and keep crawling.

Is that Ok if I want to share my own experience?? I am in no way trying to convince anyone that my way is better than yours or you should be doing my way for whatever reason......

I use 3.5mm bullet so i can even swap the polarity if necessary. You can't do that with deans or traxxas, you can do it with micro deans (non-polarized one).

Why do Traxxas connectors suck. What's the difference other than size.

Traxxas connectors will do fine. They're rated (on average, between many competing sources) about the same as Deans. If you ever have the unlikely situation that they get warm, you'll know you're pushing the amp limit. They should do the job though.

I actually use 2NB micrro deans on my motors. Easy to solder, tiny enough for the 18 or 20 awg wire I use, you can easily switch the polarity with them and I haven't noticed them being a power bottleneck of any kind.

I figure, if they are good enough to connect a 4s pack to my esc, they are good enough to go from the esc to the motor.

I don't understand this "swapping a motor out" business at all.

In my experience it's not something I've ever had to do whilst out there. And even in the man cave with proper work space and tools it still takes me a while to do it - wheel(s) off/on, link(s) off/on, setting the mesh right, waiting for the thread lock to cure...

Plus every connector equals electrical loses and a potential connectivity issue, as well as additional weight for the current extra light weight rig trend.

60/40 solder FTW IMO too.

But hey what do I know?

I like to solder up my electronics with connectors more to protect my electronics from unnecessary heat of soldering over and over again. Do it right the first time and it stays clean. Plug, plug, and away I go. I'd me more motivated to swaps things around to trying out different configurations. The way I look at it, in a real car, there is a wiring harness with connectors for a reason. Not apples to apples comparison, but the same mind set...

As I usually say, to each their own. What works for you works for you.

I use TRX connectors even though everyone says they suck. Me, haven't had a single problem with them... running RX8/2250kv @ 4s; on a full size summit.

Solder. I don't plan to change out a motor in the field. I keep multiple vehicles in the car if I'm looking to wheel for a long ass time during one day
