Default Bec?

I have searched and haven't found this exactly. I'm sure I've got it, but want to confirm before I buy batteries.

I have an HH Trailmaster ESC and HH Servo on the way. The info on the servo states it will operate at a 2s lipo 8.4v max. Can I run 3s lipo and the BEC set to 8.4 will limit that 3s lipo voltage down to what is able to be handled by the servo? Or am I limited to a 2s lipo battery?

If its a powerful servo it's best to get a stand alone bec usually a ccbec.
