| hot motor?
Can an inproper spur to pinion mesh cause a brushed motor to be hot to the touch? Where is other areas that should be looked at?

yes, along with any binding in the trans, or diffs...also what ratio are you running with the spur and pinion? If its too high, it will overheat the motor.. ideally you want a ratio between 5.5:1 and 6.2:1 keep your stick on the ice! |

If the mesh is too tight it will absolutely overheat the motor due to increased drag.

Mesh seems loose should have checked it after I unboxed it. Spur is 48p 60t and pinion is 48p 16t. That's stock haven't played with it. Also that's the first red green reference I've seen on here lol loved that show. |

WOW! 60 divided by 16 is 3.75:1...no wonder its hot! try a 10t-12t range to get the ratio down..that will cool the motor off.. yup I love the red green show.... red is fond of duct tape lol |

16 is fine if you're running an 87 tooth spur but not 60.

May I ask what this is on? Maybe it is geared like that because it has to compete with vehicles who actually have high speeds. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
