Default Slow Reverse

I have a Trailmaster BLE Pro and 2700kv Trailmaster Pro. Using this combo in my Scx10-2 rtr with Tactic radio that came with the rtr. I checked the BLE esc with a Castle link and all is at factory default for sensored brushless. Motor wires connected by color and sensored cable connected. Motor runs about half speed in reverse in comparison to forward. Red light for forward on esc responding correctly. Any ideas on slow reverse. I am using fully charged 3s battery. I have contacted John but no reply so far. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Red on esc is reverse, green is forward. Use castle link and check forward and reverse output, I think reverse defaults at 50%

Thanks for the reply. Do l need to change forward and reverse on the transmitter? And the instructions for the esc show holding forward on the transmitter when red light is flashing. Not correct?

Default Slow Reverse

Yes, that will work. Red light flashing on Tx is binding mode , follow instructions

If after reversing the channel you still have a slow reverse, you might want to check if the motor has advance timing on it.

I don't know the default settings on the Holmes controller, but on Castle branded controllers the default setting is for 50% power in reverse.

Changed from forward to reverse on transmitter. Can get esc to show storage of forward but can get no reverse to store. What happens if I change motor rotation in esc with Castle link? Any potential damage to anything? And 100 percent reverse is default setting in esc. Haven't solved my original problem yet.

You need to bind first Tx to Rx. Then you need to calibrate esc per directions. Sounds like you bond but not calibrated

Radio system is bound. Hold full throttle on transmitter and plug in battery. Esc shows green and then goes to fast flashing red. Hold full reverse on transmitter but can not get reverse to set. And the instructions for the esc mention nothing about a green light when calibrating.

With transmitter throttle switch set to normal and not reversed, I can calibrate the esc. Truck goes forward and backward correctly, but still about 50 percent reverse. Castle link shows 100 percent reverse in esc. Any ideas? I can live with half speed reverse. Would just like to know why I have this problem.

Like i said earlier, if it is still slower in reverse check the timing on your motor, if it's advanced, it will always spin faster forward than reverse...

..didn' catch that, thought it was a brushed motor......timing in settings maybe? 100% reverse and forward?

i just remembered, try also playing around with your throttle trim at idle setting, if it's slightly off it can also make it difficult to program the esc.

Check the brake curve in the castle link, it also effects reverse.

Brake curve is linear just like throttle curve.

Reset to defaults, then select reverse power to 100% manually and update again. Sometimes it will not actually change the values.

John,
Select 100 percent reverse with castle link and recalibrate esc, correct? What version of Castle link should I be using? The latest one? And thanks for the reply and help.

Truck responds correctly as it is, except for red light for forward on the esc and half speed reverse. If I change switch on transmitter, I can get green light when pulling throttle on transmitter. But will have to change to reverse rotation using Castle link on esc. Will reverse rotation hurt sensored brushless motor? Can't believe that I am the only person having these problems. As in half speed reverse, red light for forward on esc. Thanks for all replies.

You're not having problems. Reverse rotation is normal for many esc/Tx combinations. Futaba will always tell you to reverse rotation with castle
