I bought a hitec 7955tg servo and a mamba monster x esc. the dude at the hobby shop says i won't need a external bec. Is this true or will it brown out like a savox? thanx.

Depends on what voltage your servo needs. What voltage do you want it to have? I think some ESCs only put out 4.5v. what voltage does your ESC put out?

With the MMX the dude told you about the Castle link that will allow you to set your bec at 7.4v?
The MMX has the amps so set it up and go.

The mmx has a choice of voltage output to suit all, and a healthy 8A current supply to play with. A castle dedicated bec only has 10A. Looks like you'll be fine.

Yes I am aware of the castle link and know that castle speed controllers have adjustable internal bec but usually HV servos will brown out. this servo is only 6v so ill give it a shot

It's not voltage that causes brownouts and glitching, it's the lack of amperage. The MMX has 8a output.

Amperage makes sense since most of them brown out when turning and on the throttle at the same time.

I don't mean to be pedantic, but a brownout is a lack of voltage not a lack of amperage. Most radios need ~4v to keep the chips running. As a switching BEC hit it's current limit, it starts to lower the output voltage in order to keep the amperage in check. If you start with a lower voltage you are more likely to have a brownout because it is more likely to drop below what the radio need to stay on.

To answer the original question, you can power a pair of savox servos on that BEC and it will not hit it's current limit. We have run 1/5th scale servos on it without any issue.
