Thank you HumboldtEF for the chart. But didn’t the trail master 550 12t motor is 3 slot? Or I have mistaken something?

Oh thats a new motor I suppose, the description doesn't say but I'd still wager thats a 5 slot. a 12T 3 slot motor would be quite fast and is out of line with what Holmes Hobbies does for their typical motors (speed wise). I'm sure he'd answer your question if you emailed them. or ask here in the Have tech questions? Will answer. he might be able to answer the other question about using the BRX with that motor too. The BRX is listed as a crawler ESC so I dont think you should ignore the 30T rating Last edited by HumboldtEF; 05-01-2019 at 09:39 AM. |

On their site is says 3s 30t crawler. It's a 60amp esc that's kinda low for 1:10th scale imo. If you went the light route and are under 6lbs it's probably fine for a 1/10th scale. You can use a faster motor if you gear down enough. It's not the motor turns that cause the esc to heat up, it's the amp draw. While lower turn motors can draw more amps, the car can be tuned to not need to, not powering through when your tires bind up and reducing start punch help to keep the esc cool. That 30t limit is for stock crawlers, just monitor the esc Temps, that's going to tell you if it can Handel a lower turn motor in your rig or not. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

It's not in the chart partly because it's new, and perhaps because it's not meant for crawlers...

Has anybody tried this BRX Type-C ESC? It looks like the FXR and FXR Pro have been discontinued which is shocking. I'm looking for a new brushed ESC for a full size 1/10 rig. |

I'm not trying to sway you from Tekin but JRH got my attention in his last youtube video saying the BR XL has a new firmware in the works with I believe a drag brake ramp and some sort of downhill control (I think its sometimes called active freewheeling) that keeps the truck from speeding up under throttle when descending (Mamba Has this feature and I love it). He mentioned it around the 2:20 mark and the 6:30 mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em92bYYsM44&t=0s

The problem is the BR XL ESC is a tank compared to the new, compact, brushed ESCs. If the BR Mini was getting the same features I'd be interested. I'm looking for a small and light ESC. Last edited by JatoTheRipper; 09-13-2019 at 11:58 AM.

To have the BXR work with Hotwire make sure you have the latest Version of Hotwire Software installed.

I picked one of these up for my new 1/18th capra. Nice size, great external solder posts, drag brake programming blows. Trying to set up with my futaba 7pxr and the way the drag brake works vs castle seems kind of backward. Having to click the switch every time I want more drag brake is a pain. And the increments are so small. On my mamba x I can set the drag brake anywhere from -100% to +100% with a dial in less than a second. The tekin setup takes forever to make adjustments on. I really wanted to run this little ESC since it fits this rig so well but the programming of the drag brake is a big letdown. |
