Mmmmmm this sounds great! Looking forward to it.

I have a feeling that "bergish" might even be a stretch.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm not really sure Ti Fighters count as berg. They only really share "stock" gears.

Maybe we need to define berg! Seems like the the most common way to define berg: Must at a minimum use the stock berg case and some assemblance of berg gears. If you don't even use that, I don't think it counts as a berg.

Well, if you want to get technical, you guys that run axial knuckles and chubs, or clover tubes, or Dlux delrin tubes, can you really say you have "Berg" axles?

If you run axial C's and knuckles does it make it an XR10?

What if a XR10 is 90% VP and RC4WD is it still an Axial?

I guess it just should say originally OEM based axles, Berg or Axial

Also back on topic a bit. My berg ways 2lbs-11.4oz without wheels/tires, weights, and battery. That's with SS screws and steel rod end balls. RTR weight is 4lbs 7oz with SLWs and knuckle weights. It will go 3-15 or so with CF wheels and light hardware.

Same basic design aspects. They would be just highly modified Berg axles. Not like you're using a completely different axle.

Does it look like we will ever get light enough to run a smaller motor and still have some great punch for some of the new formula off road style courses?

You could do it now if all the courses were wide open and flowing from start to finish. Those 1 or 2(or more) bound up situations during the day is a deal breaker IMO. I don't believe we will get to far away from 500-540 size stuff in a true comp scenario.

agreed I also believe that with the technology the way it is at this current moment a mid 4lb. rig is about perfect but there will be a time and I do believe with these "pioneers" doing the R & D on tires and foams and even electronics installs that help control the bias in all the right areas on our crawlers we will see low 4 lb. to high 3lb. crawlers performing like our old 5.5lb crawlers did.

This has been happening for 6+ months already...

There are more than a few top competitors running 3.5 to 3.8 lb trucks and killing the competition!

I just put rob_b's old chump r/t together with some d-lux tubes for rcjunky3 and it came in at 4.2lbs and works nice at that weight so far. My berg is still at 4.15 but I've been running it at that for 2 seasons and didnt ever build it to be light. Every time I practice with Del Monte I always see there is room for improvement with my rig (and driving) so Im putting an SA xr10 together for next season with weight in mind so I can experience the difference for myself.

Seems to me that weight bias is the real ticket here. You can go as light as you want as long as your front is a touch heavier than the rear. I continually shed weight from the rear only to find myself having to lose some in the front as well.....results were a much faster, more reliable crawler. 4.4 right now full package and I do plan on going lighter...
