Thread update time. I decided to do a shackle flip on the truck. I only drilled one new hole on the chassis for the fixed hanger on the front of the frame. I was able to use existing holes for the rest. I should be done tonight, I'll get pics of the set-up and how it looks this afternoon. Next up, I will be moving the front axle forward for a better approach angle, and I'm thinking of dove-tailing the rear of the body. I'll get some pics up tonight. |

OK, I didn't get to finish it last night, but I'll get some pics up around lunch time. The frame is clearanced for the shackle mounts, and the mounts are bolted on. I'm gonna try and finish it tonight at some point. I know we all love pictures, so I"ll get them on here asap.

I'll have pics up tonight for y'all. I took it for a test drive yesterday, and popped the frt. driveshaft three times in 5mins. LOL With the shackle flip, the driveshaft angle is too steep. Some electrical tape will get me through until I get the RC4WD shims this week. The fenders will need to be cut a little more, and there is no way to bolt the bumper back on. I'm going to braze it back on.

Here are some pics of the shackle reversal. The suspension articulates smoother, plus it has a little more travel/flex. I had to clearance the shackles some, and trim the fenders where the tires were flexing into it. This shows how much I ground off for the shackle mount. Here are the front fixed mounts. I plan on moving the front axle forward to get the tires even with the front of the frame. I plan on using the RC4WD shims to get the angles good. I'm also looking into diff. leaf springs that have offset holes already drilled. Here is the approach angle with the shackle reversal. |

I plan on cleaning up all my cuts on the body, maybe dove-tail the rear, and definitely make some floorpans to support the roll-cage. Also need to re-solder one of the tubes and braze the front bumper. I have more pics if anyone wants to see it.

Hopefully I can get some video of it soon. I usually go crawling alone unless there's a crawl scheduled. I'll have to video it myself somehow. LOL

Well, I've finally got an update. The dovetail is done. I finally cut down and mounted the shocks. The truck is performing great, and I love the looks of the dovetail. Here are some pics. Next step is to re-do the cage, and add some sliders and a rear bumper. The cage will be lower, and the front bars will be laid back slightly more. |

Finally have an update. I made some floor pans to sandwich the lexan floors that were tearing. This also gave me a solid point to mount the front bars of the cage. I also made some front inner-fenders, cleaned up the wiring, re-trimmed the front fenders, and made a center console to cover the hole I had left from all the cutting. I used black styrene for everything. Real happy with the outcome, the truck looks cleaner to me. |

Thanks Dextan. I wanted to create my idea for a crawling/trailing willys, and I'm about there. Hopefully sunday I can get some video of the rig.
