| Just ordered a Sawback!
Super stoked to start this build. Got a few upgrades for it off the bat. One thing I've seen is that the transmission gears are plastic. Anyone know if/where you can get metal gears? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm not aware of any. Stock gears are super strong though (and a bit loud) - never had an issue with mine.

The Sawback doesn't need anything out of the box. The anti wrap links will prolong the life of your leaf springs. I've beat on mine for years and it's still going strong. There aren't any steel gears, but you shouldn't have any issues with the plastic gears. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |

Congrats. Sawback is a cool kit. I still have my second Sawback waiting to be built.

Nice thanks. Quick question for you. Flipping through the manual I see there is no slipper clutch/spur gear. So whatever the gear in the transmission is called that meets the motor pinion gear is it supposed to be greased, (as the instructions say) or not? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think you're talking about the counter gear? If so, I greased it.

I think you're talking about the pinion gear. If you grease the trans gears it's going to get grease on it.

Right I figured that would happen. Just odd from what I'm used to as you never grease the pinion/spur gear. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Trans is enclosed, grease away my friend. Rule of thumb is any exposed gears should be left grease free. If they are in a transmission though, a little grease is a good idea.

Waiting on some parts for the axles (Ackerman knuckles and bent steering rods, CVA's and beef tubes). So started with the transmission. Went with the CC 1406 series 2850kv motor that I will pair with the Mamba X. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just realize that that is a lot of power for a Sawback. You are going to have to take care to not bend the leaf springs even with the anti-wrap links.

Oops really? Thanks for the heads up. Guess I just figured since it was a sensored and a fairly low kv it would be a good crawler. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

| Re: Just ordered a Sawback! It will be fine if you drive accordingly. Just a warning to not beat on the truck with a powerful motor. And when you get bound up use the hand of God instead of trying to power through it if you value your leaf springs. |
