got bta going, I gotta clean it up and drill hole's for servo. This isn't anything new, but here's what i'm doing.... Servo mount's to steering arm. Draglink will go from servo horn to permenant mount on axle housing. It will work like this when done... Couple pic's, still gotta make it pretty.. Last edited by H3RESQ; 03-30-2008 at 01:14 PM. |

isn't that going to make the servo move up and down at the same time as steering? just the movement of the servo horn will make it travel up and down also.. or i'm missing somthing on how your going to mount it to the axle plate..

So yes, it will have rod end's, one end of draglink will be on servo. The other end will mount to axle with rod end attachment.

thats a very interesting approach on the steering. very good thinking on that. I'm curious to see how well it performs. |

It's no new design for me(Grover turned me onto it). The setup work's great, I've had it on another rig before. This lowered the servo compared to having it on top of the axle. As for the battery, I'm thinking a split lipo pack like this on the angled side's of the axle. Overall the CG should be just as good, and I'll have BTA(BONUS!!) Since the servo will sit lower than if on top of axle, and batteries will be on the sides(lower than servo would be. It also dealt with chassis being in the way of were the servo would normally mount. Battery pack like this..... http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-2200-74-Saddle.htm The only parts I'm worried about is the Tierod I made snd the knuckle's with riser's on them....I've got alum. knuckle's on the way. I'll have a thicker tierod made soon. Here's a rig I had setup the same way, |

Your curiousity of how well it work's made me dig up the above video of the old car that had this steering setup. That's when I noticed/remembered I had my battery mounted next to the servo on the tierod!!

Re-made the tierod. It now has room for either a battery or the sidewinder. Not sure were everything will go yet. Installed the aluminum knuckles and clearanced CVD's(thanks, Mike!) I feel alot more confident in the steering setup with alum. knuckles. Last picture say's it all as far as clearance and this bta. Here's a couple pic's of how it's going......I should have another update later tonight. |

Got the steering done, gonna work on getting the rear a little more toe-in and get it a bit narrower. Here's the steering....not sure if the battery will end up there or not. So....here's some more for all the picture guy's |
