Default Servo glitching/cutt off?

I have been the owner of an SCx10 II for 2 years now. Since its maiden voyage it has run a Holmes brxl esc and a Savox Waterproof servo. It has work perfectly untill recently. I have been experiencing random cut offs to my steering. Some times it doesnt turn the wheels when I ask it too. Other times the wheels get stuck when turned. There has been no issues with the throttle.

Do I need a BEC even though it has worked for so long without one?
Could the servo be the problem?
Could it be the recieved?
Something else?

Thanks

I had a similar issue with my wraith. It has a bec, turned out to be a dirty connection. Check, clean and apply dialectic grease or penetrox on your connections and see of that does it.

Could also be the beginning of broken gears. Started off like that for me a few times in my holmes hobbies shv500 v1.

It could even be a battery problem. If there old and can't supply the power you get funky Ness.

I was going to suggest questioning the battery, you didn't mention whether you've been running the same battery those two years or not. If you have the ability, check your cells, if not, maybe borrow or buy another battery and see if the problem persists.

I had the same issue very recently and it turned out some of the gears in my servo were chewed off.

Update: I have tried a new battery, new reciever, and cleaning connections. My next step will be testing the servo on my bomber, to see if I can pin point it to that. I really hope its my $30 servo and not my $100 Holmes esc.

I had this issue with the servo in my 1.9 Barronco build not too long ago. It first started happening right after some pretty decent river and stream crossings. My intital thought was something got wet and glitchy. Let it sit and dry out for several days. Still did it. I ended up pulling the servo out and inspecting everything. It turns out one of my servo leads was skinned from rubbing against the frame rail. Ended up heat shrinking it and problem solved.

Get a HobbyWing WP 1080 ESC for $40 and don't waste your time on a BEC.

Buy yourself a $4.00 servo tester and actually diagnose it correctly.

SERVO TESTER

Sorry $1.07

Ditchrat has the right idea but spend the $4.00 and get it delivered from North America in 1-2 weeks instead of 1-2 months from offshore supplier.

This ended up being my problem as well. After heat shrink the servo works fine. However, now If I cut power to my radio before unplugging my battery to the esc, the truck starts to jolt backwards in short bursts. As long as I unplug my battery first this doesn't happen so I am not worried.
