Default Stall issue

I have a exceed racing MaxStone 8 and decided to change to a upgraded motors. The original motors are 13 turn and I purchased axial 27 turn motors to replace them.I put the same pinion gear on the axial motors and tested them and I the truck runs faster with the 27 turn then the 13 turn that was in the truck. The problem I am having is when I try to crawl with it if the back tires get in a little bit of a bind instead of pulling out of it they stall out and sometimes move a little while the front tires are digging I am wondering if this stole is because I don't have the right pinion on the truck for these motors I'm thinking two teeth down on the pinion should give me more torque and less speed by the looks of it I should have gotten a 45 turn or even 50 any suggestions on what my problem may be?

What makes you say the origional motors are 13T? Regardless if you can get a bigger spur and a smaller pinion that would be better then a slower motor. I don't know maxstones at all but faster motor and lower gears is alwayse better.
I would think the maxstone would come with a sealed can 3slot 540 motor, definatly not a 13T motor. The only 13T crawler motors I know of are over $50, not some $10 stock motor. Maybe your confusing 13t pinions with 13T motors.

If your origional motor looked like this its a 70T motor not a 13T.

This probably means your 27t motor is tuning on some tall gears or higher speed gears and may get hot. So watch out for that. But still I recomend bigger spur gear if possible and smaller pinion gear. Possible even higher pitch gears to accomplish this.

Voodoo is right, the original motor is as he has shown and is 70T. 27T is a huge step in speed increase and torque decrease from the 70T. I don't think you can get enough gearing change with spur and pinion and maybe your thought of the 45T is a better motor for this situation.
