| Good base line for shock tuning for scalers.
I am in a need of some help when it comes to just finding a base line starting point for tuning shocks. I recently bought an awesome Axial based scaler that came with what looks like Pede shocks. The front shocks have black springs and are a tad bit to stiff. The back shocks have red springs, but the rebound is just horrible, seems like the fluid might be a little bit too thick or the shock valve itself is restricting the fluid passage, causing the VERY lazy shock rebound. My rig is not that heavy at all, and i have the battery mounted over the rear axle, i figured the extra weight of the battery might help me out with the rear shocks, but i was wrong. I was thinking about switching to some stock Axial honcho shocks, but figured i could cure this problem with just some fluid and maybe new springs. So my question is, what is a good base line tune to start off with? I was thinking keeping the springs i have and start with some 25wt shock fluid?

Stock SCX oil is listed as 30wt so you could try starting there. I personally start at 40wt, and then go up or down in weight to get the feel i want.

I'd go with the stock axial shocks. You can find a set of 4 for $20 usually and the spring rate is awesome. Remove the bumpers and you get good travel. I've used them on numerous rigs and never had to change anything but oil wt.
