I have a question on motor choice. Ive been running a HH Pro 35T for a while now. It is an exceptional motor. I was hoping that the larger Comm would smooth out the low end response. The Cheap Integy 35T I was running previously was very jumpy no matter how slowly and smoothly you fed the throttle. The HH 35T was a bit better but still pretty twitchy.

I got an Integy v11 45T in a rig I bought for my daughter and it is super smooth. I swapped in in place of my HH and it was just how I hoped the bottom end would be. Now to bad it doesnt have near the torque or wheelspeed of my HH motor, so that fully blows.

My question is, is the difference in low speed "smoothness" from the reduced number of turns or another aspect of the motor design? (comm dia, brush orientation, brush cut?) If I could get the same effect from a 45T HH handwound I would be stoked.

It obviously takes more current to get the motor moving, what causes this?

Got some 35T motors in very quick time - all the way to Australia

I can't wait to try them in my scaler.

Thank you

You are referring to the detent force of the motor. With stronger magnets, comes a higher saturation (power) point and also a higher starting amperage. The cheaper integy starts up smoother because it has weak magnets. Design changes to the iron in the motor will change the detent as well, and I have some motors in design that directly fix the relatively high detent force of the TorqueMaster Pro. The parts will also be compatible with any TorqueMaster, so you can convert yours.

I'll be ordering a Torquemaster Pro Handwound. I've narrowed it down to either the 35-turn or 25-turn.
As stated, I want a sufficient low end finesse crawler that can also kick up dirt, get (modest) air, and do donuts.
Between these two motors, which would you prefer for my goals? (No comps, just fun.)
Ultimately, I can mess with gearing/voltage, but whats my best starting point; higher turn/higher gearing, or lower turn/lower gearing?
As for the ESC, I have your Torquemaster BR-XL on order. Should be here by Friday...
And, do you have stock on both?
Thanks. Sorry to ramble. I'm such a rookie with this.

Just got some in stock. We currently don't have a combo for this, maybe we should do so?

Glad you like it! Be careful with that throttle!

The 35t will certainly allow you to finesse the throttle better, however the 25t will get you more wheelspeed. I would recommend going with a faster motor with super slow gearing. In my scaler I actually run a 27t torquemaster on 4s lipo and it does very well. I carry 35t and 25t at all times, ready to ship.

Hey John Rob, quick question:

Im planning to run the BR-XL and the HH Torque master in a MOA style crawler..
will the BR-XL be safe to use with dual motors?

When i try to checkout a 45T motor, why cant i order 2 compared to the other turn motors? or is my computer doing something wrong?

Can you program the BR-XL without the Programming kit? Problem i have is that i dont have a Windows computer or buy the windows software.. running a MAC OS right now.

Thanks!

The ESC has no motor limits, you are perfectly safe with dual motors. No need to program the ESC, it is ready to roll out of the box.

I have four 45t on the site right now, you should be able to put two in your cart. I added them a few hours ago.

What type of lipo battery dischage rate and burst should I run to use my Torquemaster ESC and dual 45 pro handwounds effectively? Anything to stay away from? I'm just running 1 ESC and 2 motors through a punk.
