I started with scx10 frame rails, cut them down.. full tube rear, custom shock mounts, interior roll cage.. and tonight I built functioning tube doors! It's cool.. they open & close on hinges so I can get to my inner workings easier as the cage is not removable.
I'm pretty happy with it so far, I might even be able to slap it together partially finished to compete this weekend.
Damn, sounds like a sweet ride!

So... 1:1 4Runner or Wrangler Unlimited?

Discuss, because I need a new (well used but still) truck.

Toyota

Ok guys.. Im going to modify some steelies today. I came up with a couple of "slotted" designs. Im going to do the 6slot on some white steelies first. Then ill have two other sets to do either the 3slot or 4slot (which i think would look old skool kool) or, I can come up with something else.

Toyota all the way, great truck! Jeeps aren't what they used to be or any Chrysler product for that matter.

i was tempted before i ended up with my 4runner to get an m1009 or m1008.

not at all a commuter rig, and the main reason i didnt get one. but for sure one of those would be a fantastic start for a brutal trail rig.

Yeah I've got to go for the part-communter, part-do-whatever-I-****ing-feel like. Trailblazer sorta failed in the first, definitively failed in the latter.

He sold it.

Speaking of... anyone remember, or ever see, the small Coors Silver Bullet jets that used to perform at air shows? I remember having an air show poster that had the Red Baron and those on them and always thought they were cool. Red Baron was beyond cool though... counter rotating propped P-51 built for racing in the Reno air races. I remember it buying the farm though when the pilot augered it; he was pretty brutally bashed up but lived.
