got my quicksand today. all i gotta say is DAMN...

imho, WELL worth the money. it came with the removed board and pot from a hitec 7955, so i assume the guts used to make the winch are from the hitec digital servos, so no worries about burning one up and not being able to fix it.

if you have 250 bucks burning a hole in your pocket and want something completely killer for your rig i highly recommend one of these.

it spools yanno...

That is why I bought the second one. I don't think I will even use it. I couldn't pass it up.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I am the list now.

Anyway, do you know what an added benefit of running in a winter series? when you get home and thaw out your trucks, they look like they came through a car wash. Best way yet to clean muddy and dirty tires.

Well, on a more serious note..

Some of us were talking about me getting a vendor star this weekend and I've been thinking about it but, I just don't think that I will be able to meet the demand for parts from people across the country. I don't even know if I would want to. I just do this for fun. I already have a full time job that I like. I would only be able to do small batches of parts anyways as, I don't have my OWN machine to do work of a large proportion so, the stuff I do would never become more than a "on the side" kind of thing. I don't see me becoming a top player in the R/C community. I'd rather just make cool shiznit and offer it to my group of people's and then maybe, if they don't need or want it.. I'll share it with the others. If I have to buy a star to do that then, so be it.

I've been in Machining for 7+ years and I always thought that when I became a Machinist, I would be making parts for myself constantly. well, over the years that has not been the case other than the random side job or "need to be fix or modified" job.

So, when I got into R/C crawling, making custom parts for others picked up a little bit and idea's for new parts are always crossing my mind but, for some reason, I'm thinking "small time". I like sharing my machinist skills with you guys and I think that's enough satisfaction for me.

we could take up a collection if you wanted to.
I think small batches are fine, several of the vendors do it that way... It'd be a nice bit of side work and would pay for your hobby! You'd just have to be up front w/people and tell them it's all limited runs.

Limited runs will sell out fast. And you will probably always have people pming you asking if you can make more.

People will want to buy the stuff, but if it takes the enjoyment out of making parts and making a fe bucks to fund the hobby. Dont do it.

If you can make parts, fund the hobby a little, and enjoy it 100%. Go for it.

I volunteer myself to test all parts you make before you sell them.

Ill make sure they look good, and perform as they should. You dont have to pay me!

.
It could get annoying real fast.
I think that's what happened to Getbent. He was making micro motors and just got tired of the constant harassment... it's hard to keep the public at bay.

Realistically, how many parts (let's say upper and lower link sets) could you turn out in a run?
Would you have trouble getting access to the equipment?
Do you have the time to dedicate...

I have 24/7 machine access & a lot of free time but, I dont want to deal with the public really.

I'm going to get off this first set of wheels and see what happens.

Yea, that's what I need to be thinking about right now. Making parts!

Don't do preorders, don't overwhelm your self, make a few sell a few. Don't take the fun out of it for you. That's my advise for all it's worth.
