Thanks Brian. It looks like the 8degree allows you to actually run tires on your truck.

I got one bearing out last night.
Soaked the knuckles in wd-40 overnight and two more came out this morning.
One big bearing left.
I've heated it up twice and started using a large drill bit to grab it from the inside.
I think I moved it a mm... it's soaking again.
I may run to Ace for some liquid wrench.

EDIT: It's my own fault. I kept holding off on buying bearings... and then I didn't properly care for Melons after Lobo's spot which I knew would mean stuck bearings.

EDIT: it's out.

I have 8 degree Chubs and Knucks on Little Debbie and my wheels won't fit without the tires rubbing. I ordered a set of +3 hubs from RC4WD to hopefully fix the issue.

Yeah, I run the 8 degree setup and it's freakin' close. Even with the 1.9 pitbulls which are a bit narrower than some of the big 1.9 tires. I'm afraid of experiencing the dreaded "knuckle grabber tire twister". You know what I'm talking about! VP can do better, they can come up with a combo that would clear anything AND look good. Maybe someday.

I think swezys problem is simply a wheel offset issue.. Then, some of us just want more clearance. Our stuff clears but, we want more. I'm running the narrowest track width I can get away with so it remains C2 legal as far as cab width vs. inside of wheel width.

I run OMFs with .350 hubs and VP 8degree setup. I simply want more clearance without having to go wider.

I have all kinds of clearance because I'm running the VP knuckles that slant in towards each other. Dose VP still. make them?

what hex do you run? The small scx10. I have the standard hex's that are larger. Not much but it works. I will throw some 350's on and show you.

Here is 350

Here is 475

These tires are a lot fatter than Pit bull's

In the picture you posted I see a nut on top. Why would you run that on top, to hang on a tire as you moving forward?

Heck you don't even need to run a nut blue lock tight the screw right into the knuckle.

If you want to run a nut place it on the bottom. Think you can only catch on to it in reverse. Heck No on e want to drive in reverse.

seems to me a little twist in the knuckle arm to literally point the top inwards to tuck the rod ends away from the tire would be all that's needed. last time out i wrapped a tsl around my knuckle...

i have a normal set of knuckles and a steering crosslink for timmy that ive considered swapping out the vp 8degree setup, but i really dig the better geometry. how could i twist (not bend) that vp knuckle arm without weakening it?

I would not try and twist or bend those. Aluminum is not very forgiving as far as bending goes. It is not as flexible as steel and may snap. That could be a frustrating expensive mistake

yeah i wouldn't try it without knowing for sure. just didnt know is there was a trick like heating it up or whatevs. i tweaked a rc4wd knuckle arm at the cliffs once, and it broke later that day...

i do think if those arms were twisted to tuck the tops inward just a little bit it would help with the snags.

I could machine 8 degrees more into the arm while taking off as little material as possible but, at the cost of losing 8 degrees in your rod end articulation. It would however move the rod end inward, away from the tire.

Also, you could compensate for the slight loss of rod end movement with a revised drag link with strategic bends.

Edit: you could probably just grind an angle on the top surface where the drag link mounts.. Just like I planned on machining it. It would create an angled mounting surface for that rod end. Just want to keep heat out of it. Grind a little, cool off & repeat.

Well I replaced the 'locked' spider diff up front with a GRIPFAB locker! Works like a charm. Swapped out the rear axle a Wraith axle for now (which had a GRIPFAB locker in it). Went from 12/60 to 14/60 on the gearing, made a few more adjustments and fixed a bit of an error with some wiring that nearly got chopped in half. So guess we'll see what its made of in a couple of weeks.
