Finished some internal details

Scale body reinforcements

Also added the floor access plate, gas pedal and tranny access plate. The tranny access plate isn't done yet. Needs more details.

I need a source for tiny scale bolts or just the heads.

More rear floor detail

Threw a little paint at the rear of the body. Done with this area except the seat

Milled up a couple chassis side rails tonight. 3/8" Delrin. I tried to keep them as scale in shape as possible.

Got my tires so I could set ride height and build the suspension. For tires, I settled on RC4WD 2.2 Rock Crusher X/T tires for their size and look and mounted them on some stock Tamiya CR-01 wheels I had laying around. I'll leave the centers black but paint the rings olive drab. I was going to try to find something more scale military looking wheels but the closest I could find are the RC4WD Landies Classics but the were just too much $$. The offset on the CR-01 wheels bring the axles too close to the frame so I ordered some Junfac wideners from RPP.

Anyways, here's the pics. Ignore the white link plate on the front axle. It's a temp until my TCS Boomerang plates come in (I stole the one in the pic from my other AX-10).

Closer shot of the link mounts

The suspension links are delrin rod.

The stock AX-10 shocks are way too long so I've settled on some Losi rear truck shocks. I just have to make the mounts. Unfortunately, they'll have to go up through the rear floor of the body for the shocks to be long enough to be affective. I'll either hide them with the rear seat or dump that and do a fuel cell or wooden parts crate. Not sure yet. Opinions?

Next up after that will be the steering servo mount and a couple more scale look crossmembers then I'll get back on the body.

Got the front shock mounts done. They are a bit tall for now. They'll get cut down when I take them off to dye them.

Then milled the tranny mount and got it mounted in the chassis

Mounted the steering servo. It screws to the front crossmember with the stock mounts

Finished the rear suspension.

The lower end of the shock attaches where the C hub attaches. I'm not sure I like the single shear mounting so I might fab up a mount that comes down from the ball location on to to behind the shock. The shock gets in the way of the linkage that holds the toe-in so I ordered some Axial plastic straight axle adapters.

It just barely pokes up through the body. With the back seat in, you can't see it but I'm making a cover for it anyways.

Checking the stance. Looks good so far.

The track is way too narrow. I have some Junfac wideers coming from RPP.

Amazing skills!

Ive never considered having a lower rear shock mount where you have it.

This entire project is just... awesome!

Put a cap on the hole in the rear of the body. The rear seat covers this nicely.

Got the last scale rear crossmember and chassis braces in.

Also added scale body mounts

Bolted the body to the chassis for the first time.

As you can see, I switched over to AX-10 wheels for now. The offset of the CR-01 wheels was way off. even with wideners on the axle, it was way too narrow. Now I just have to find a reasonable 2.2 wheels that looks right for this project.

Now back to the body detailing.

Time for an update.

In the previous pic, it seemed like I was done with the outside of the body.
Maybe not.....

There were some issues with the inside of the front fenders. It was just easier to cut them off. Here's what I ended up with.

I filled in the bad areas and got rid of all the extra crap. I also added a scale brace underneath.

Then, I added a way to remount them. The fenders are now removable in case I have to repair them.

Default chassis

Would you be willing to cut and sell another one of those chassis?

I've been asked that by several people. The truth is that what you are looking at represents several hours total sitting at my mill. No CNC or anything. Just me and the mill. Between that and the material, to make it worth my while to reproduce it would be pretty expensive
