The Rat Patrol version! That will work perfect, I'm pretty sure it has the same chassis. Cut away the dummy "axles" and other unnecessary stuff and fill the hollow frame rails with aluminum stock. Then you can drill/tap just about anywhere you need.

No windshield is not that big a deal with the right cage work. Or make a windshield from scratch.

No jerry cans?? A complete desert Jeep came with 6. If you had them all I'd want to buy 1 or 2.

Right on man, build er up... we need more 1/6th scale rigs in the area...

I got it on eBay but it was local so I picked it up this morning. She had a schwimmwagon too but I didn't need that now.

They were he nephews and they moved away. Guess the kid lost most of the cans. I got two. One one the back and one for the front

It's def a hasbro. Will take pics when I start to take it apart

Thanks for the advice man.

What size aluminum do you use for the fame raisl

Nice find. I love the fact that we are buying all these dead Jeep's up and bring them to life. Welcome to 1/6 rc. One of the best things when building one is you can handle all the scale accessories a lot easier. I have a Dragon Driver for mine that came with a 6 shot Revolver with bullets in the chamber. And a bolt action rifle that you could load if you made bullet's to fit.

After watching other builds that seemed to be top heavy.I suggest filling the frame with steel to make the frame heavy to offset the weight of the cage and other higher COG items. This seemed to help with mine. Weight the wheels and axels to.

GTG soon?

I'm pretty sure it's 1/4" x 1/2" stock that fits right inside the frame rails (I used a double layer of 1/8" because I already had it) Fill the frame rails in between the wheelwells and inside the front bumper between the frame. Epoxy it in place and your good...

awesome. just read your thread and saw what you did. awesome stuff in there. i will be referring a lot to that.

was thinking about just making some new frame rails out of some 1/2" square tube. little overkill, but would def get me some weight down low.

I did that with the blue Jeep I was building. It will add a few more pounds to the finished Jeep but it opens up so many more possibilities for drive trains and steering systems. It really sounded cool when dragging the rear cross memeber over rocks. I have 2 more Hasbro Willys bodies that are being hoarded, maybe one day I'll build a second one to use as a 'loaner' Jeep at GTG's.

I'm still gathering parts for my build. Good to see another one here for inspiration and I like your work MJ.

Yea whats up with y'all??

If you and Ron get running, we could conceivably get 5 1/6th Jeeps together at one place...

Maybe a 6th one. Rumor has it that Creepy picked up a Hasbro body recently. I've been trying to get time in my schedule to go to Bobs house to run in his ravine. If nothing else, we should make a time to go back to Gambrills State Park some time soon. The Ti rear axle shafts from creeperbob seem to be working well in the orange jeep- no more wobbly wheels after a roll over.

ok, so i worked on something tonight. made the frame rails. need to cut it in half now. hate doing that by hand, it takes forever. but ill start that later. came together really well. the front bend goes a little past horizontal, but i think it will be fine.

on to the pics.

really didnt like that front bending down. so i broke the joint put in a little wedge, and made it run horizontal. not bad i'd say. looks much better now.

The little wedge did the trick. That should work.

Splitting it w/o a bandsaw is not gonna be fun though! I'm sure you will make it happen somehow...
