Default 1:6 Maxx Based H1

Lets see if i can stick with this one guys, its been a couple years since ive built anything lol.

Started with a $3 score on the hummer, and $50 for an old .15 t-maxx.
Add some aluminum, sanding and primer and this is what ive got so far.

The chassis is not done, need to order some parts for the rear.

I'm going to watch this build, I have a bunch of T-maxx parts that I received from a friend as a basket case, and I need some ideas. I look forward to seeing how you build it.

Yes 3 bucks lol. Goodwill and yardsales are awesome, I bought a 1:6 jesse james silverado for 3 bucks a few years ago. The 1:6 H2 above was 5 bucks.

Well that escalated quickly lol.
Tire size actually works quite well, got some work to do to make the 2.2s play nice on the maxx though.

Decided to go with 2.2/3.0 sc wheels to clear the maxx knuckles.
Went with these as the hex design looked really easy to modify as well, since the maxx pins are a bit larger than 10th scale pins.

Trimmed the tire and glued right to the inside edge of the wheel instead of in the bead, gave the tire a bit wider look to it which i like better.

What's with the funky hex on the inside of that wheel?? Just a strange design

Thats how the hex is shaped, one of the reasons i went with these as the hex was included with the wheels and was very easy to modify to fit the larger pins.

Looks pretty damn scale I like it. The fullsize H1's are independent suspension. The maxx fits good. Too bad there's no portals.

Thanks guys.
Up next is mounting the body and deciding on a transmission.

I would say either the summit 2 speed or a Tamiya 3 speed. If you have the room run an axial ax10 trans with a dig unit as a transfer case. That way you can have multiple gears and dig on a crawler/basher or trail truck. This makes me want a H1 body.

Maxxs' are very stout to begin with. Personally I don't think I would trust an axial transmission as a center case. I say a 2spd summit trans. I think that sucker will bolt right in them rails right?

VW, can you post a link to the tamiya 3 speed you are referring to?
