if youre running a 9.6v stick pack, you sure can run a 7.2v 2s lipo... just make sure you get the right connector, or change it yourself. 3s is 11.1V and you may very well get away with it if youre lucky. id stick with 2s unless you know for sure it can take the extra.

Thanks but my stick packs are not 9.6v they are 7.2v like a tamiya CC01 runs on and most touring cars as they all came from my RC drifting cars. I got ten of them hence reluctance to ditch them for lipos as low on funds too. |

even still, you can buy 2s 20c lipos for less than $20 each.. and they run at 7.4v your ESC will be fine on that voltage if youre running 7.2 currently. if its budget, i can understand as my budget is also very limited, but lipos are def cheaper than anything else, unless you already own them.. which is fair enough. |

Thank you. Yes I will go to lipo but not yet. I have some helicopter lipo batteries but 7.4 @ only 800mAh is not good lol. In Time I will convert well xmas is coming so, we will see. also Lipo is smaller (usually) so I can a proper looking rear or hide up front to aid climbing. I hope to test run it weekend as last weekend it rained :( but thats normal for Cornwall in UK. Also have a new body on the way too which should help with battery location. |

So ordered some cables to use my old helicopter 800mAh batteries. but two linked will give me 1600mAh at 7.4v will be lighter and then I can hide batteries under the bonnet and make this a truggy not sure how long 1600 lipos are going to last, 3000 nimh gives we well over 2 hours proper crawling. Now fitted the wheels off the CC01 cos they got lead in the tyres and it helped me stay upright while at the beack on the rocks on the weekend Really loving this rig now just get the batteries sorted then im good to attack some rough stuff |
