| What is the best crawler to start with?
As a new person to crawling. I would like to get advice as to which vehicle would be a good entry level kit. Please explain why.

If you're doing research for another article for that website, I would try actually researching rather than having the information spoon-fed to you...

I started with the Axial ARTR last month. I took the radio parts out of my mini LST and got the Novak crawler esc/motor combo and it seems to be pretty good. I have upgraded a couple things, and started experimenting with wheel weight and the basic mods like air holes in the wheels. The platform is easy to work on and parts are very easy to find/get. So far so good with my Axial |

Thanks for the help KB. BTW if I was how would you suggest doing research if not going to forums and researching? So the Axial is a good one? Last edited by djmason9; 07-23-2009 at 07:51 PM. |

I will say that the search is useless if you don't know what to look for. That is easily solved by just simply taking some time and reading. The question you asked is quite vague and with a little research, you can narrow it down a bit on your own... Oh crap... I was being rude in the newbie section... karma is gonna get me now... |

Well believe it or not i did search on this site. I looked around quite a bit before i started this thread. But nowhere did I see "best kits for beginners". So i figured i would just ask. I mean isn't that what a forum is a place to ask people who are more knowledgeable than you about a subject?.. And What do you have against my site anyway? Did it somehow offend you?

i dont know anybody that owns a venom and i have never seen one comp. i currently have a ax10, started out as rtr! it is currently my comp rig and it does very well. but that is after alot of modification to make the rig work the way i want. i will be build ing a losi for my new comp rig, out of the box they are alot better. the suspension is extremely smooth, the worm gears are awesome, and front and rear dig, you cant beat it for the price! current comp rig ax10 swx chassis, dna dig, rooster crawler, 55t+45t, jr8711 steer servo, 645 dig servo, double triangulated links(proto r2j skid), aluminum everything, alot of weight! |

Thats fine if you dont find anything on my site interesting but don't feel like you have to bash it. Other people might :-) I'm just trying to help other hobbiest, and express myself. And as for giving others credit.. I always give credit where credit is due.

I think the axial is a good platform to start with. It will go from mild to wild and there is support for it everywhere. There is a reason it is so popular. I takes a while to outgrow.

If your gonna comp then I would honestly say look for a good used Motor on Axle setup (berg, bully2, HR, and now eritex makes a kit for losi) and go from there bc after you buy any shafty and try to make it comp worthy you will prob have a crap load of money in it. I bought a complete berg comp ready (no radio) for 500.00 bucks and I just won 250.00 with it at a comp so. . .just some advice.. ps This was my first crawler GOODLUCK/HAVE FUN!!
