Default Hot motor !!

So I'm burning up motors and its driving me nuts. It starts with an 8lb. rig with a rc4wd R2 tranny with 8t pinion. Disruptor transfer case to wraith axles with stock gears ? Motors are hot after 3 min. Right now There's a Novak timbuk2 brushless combo installed. Please help !! Already lost my Holmes torque master 27t yesterday.

Something is binding, maybe. Remove pinion and roll by hand and see if everything is moving freely. Is gear lash good?

Yea I tried that. I removed the motor and rolled it back and forth. Everything rotates freely, I think it's the low gearing in the tranny. I don't have a problem with this driveline combo and an axial tranny.

A couple of things you can try are: lower pinion/spur gearing and a motor heat sink with fan.

Hot motors are a few things that are related:

Too fast a motor for the application (low wind count for brushed, hi KV for brushless)
Too high a gearing (large pinion and/or small spur)
Driveline binding (including the pinion/spur mesh)

A low geared trans should actually help (low gearing = high motor speed, low axle speed).

Rc4wd has a 1:1 gear ratio transmission for worm gear axles. Do you have that one or the geared down transmission? Because they look exactly the same.
