Default Droop pros and cons

Just as the title says what's the pro and cons of running droop and how to make a droop setup on a budget and should I run it on a heavy rig as a vs4-10 pro? This might be a newb question but I'm pretty new into crawling and want to make my truck run as best as possible.

a better question is what do you plan to do with it and why
if you just want to try it pull the springs off the shocks and see.how.it dose other cheap cheap option is the pen spring mod go buy 4 cheap pens and.take the springs out of the pen and put.it on the shock shaft instead of the big bulky spring it came with
both of these droop mods are reversable so just go for it test it out and try again then come back and let us know what your pros and cons are

Simple definition for sag is the amount of suspension travel used to achieve ride height. Droop is the remainder of your available travel. Adjusting preload isn’t just a matter of adding spacers or cranking down the collars to achieve your desired ride height. Proper spring rate now. Too much preload on a soft spring will cause the shock to pack, (unable to rebound fast enough) vs. too stiff pogo stick springs. Proper springs! One thing upon another effecting performance. Shock oil viscosity for faster or slower shocks....... Long story short, document where you start, shock changes compared to the performance changes, changing one thing at a time then documentation of what it did. Then repeat......
Video your rig testing the changes, your eyes can and will lie to you as to one setup being better than another.

Back to the original topic and my .02c.

I’d pour through the vs410 section reading everything. A lot of great reading there.

A lot of awesome rigs that perform great.

I run a long-er travel full drop setup in my Trx4 as an experiment.

Works incredible going across rock piles but transitions turning up or going up steep climbs is a whole other story. Doesn’t work nearly as well as the stock shocks in a lowered setup.

I’d work on tuning/dialing what you currently have and then mess with droop if you’re interested.

As already mentioned there is a lot of tuning/tinkering/testing involved.

By no means fire and forget.

Just my thoughts, good luck

I like "normal suspension".

I like some up travel.

I like some down travel (droop).

I like my truck to sit in about the middle.

If I want more travel I get a longer shock.

If I want more down travel (droop) I set my shocks lower on the chassis, change the angle and use different springs so the RC can settle the way I like it. Yes, I tried it and it doesn't work. BUT it makes real cool pictures for Facebook.

If I want more up travel then I set the shocks higher, change the springs and the angle.

The I take the body off my RC and run it on my practice course and watch what it does.

My goal is for my RC to have clearance, traverse the terrain as level as possible and not tip over.

I know the longer I can keep three tires on the ground the less likely it is to tip over.

People have all sorts of fancy terms and ways to do things. I just watch and try to see what works and what doesn't.

P.S.
if you mount your shocks real low and real far forward on the chassis so your axles fall down until the shock stops it, that isn't droop.

I really like low slung rigs. They seem to work really good for my terrain.

With that being said, on my 10ii, I run Traxxas GTS shocks with no springs. This lets the shocks bottom out so the truck sits super low, but still keep all travel.

I love it. It's all down travel, but It preforms so much better since I did that. It also makes the suspension super duper soft since there's no spring to hold tension so the suspension never bounces back.

The best thing you can do is play around with it and see which YOU like. None of our setups will be best for you. There is no one setup that works for everyone. Some like high trucks, some like low trucks, etc.
