that thing is awesome dude. I love the way the suspension reacts. I think it is going to look way more scale than any other SC truck out there when it is bouncing around the track.

i got the tranny in and mounted up. had to tweek the chassis design just a bit to make room for the battery then it all came to a grinding halt............. i need some seriously stiffer springs. i could put the coils on both rear shocks but it looks soo much better with the single coil. anyone know of some much stronger springs. i will check out the hardware store this week i have gotten some good springs from there i just don't know if i can find some the right size? i got the batery down low on the chassis plate in front of the links. with the spares on the truck its is very well balanced but sits at almost full compression. i roughly wieghed it with me and the bathroom scale and was get about 8 pounds minus the spares, esc, rx, few additional tubes, and light bars. it is very heavy but sould "float" just like the real thing, no bouncing around like the lighter slash.

maybe try running a dual spring setup, then you can play with spring rates and beginning and ending of the shock stroke.

Good idea. Maybe something like the SCX10 dual spring setup. A softer spring for the soft floaty action and a firm spring to soak up the big hits. Might just work.

I also wonder if a second spring inside the shock body might work.

they don't have spring rates labeled but there's gotta be stiffer ones out there.

I think the HPI blues are the stiffest they make, a bit thicker coil metal and more coils.

i plan to run a dual rate coil setup mainly for looks though. i did get the springs figured out though. i found some small springs at the hardware store that fit perfectly on the shock shafts. they set the ride hieght perfect but still allow the the full movement. it works out perfect because they are under the stock springs and you can barely see them. i will get pics up soon.

well i got a bunch done. most of the brazing is done as well as much of the clean up. i have to get a few nutz brazed on the cage for panels, and the INTERIOR. still need to buy material for driveshafts, new body, light buckets for lightbars, and spare wheels/tires. i have a cool idea for doing a really scale rear swaybar for the rear but i just need to find the right material for the torsion rod. changed the spare tire mount a little, added a few rear panels and started the roof lightbar. the lightbar will hinge foward to fit through the windshield for body removal. onto the pics.....

these panels will be black and will have a small tail wing spanning between them. they will also be where the exhaust will be.

mark, punch........

predrill.......

well been a little unmotivated lately but i got some more done to her. all i have left to do on the chassis is just to add two more tubes braze on some nuts or tabs to mount the interior and put a rear swaybar mount on. then i get to paint her up. i have to order the parts to build the axle and drive shafts and then i'll get it out for a test drive. yay.

Sweet job on the chassis. I like all the little details you're adding,
Looking forward to seeing the finished project.....
