| Re: Vaterra V100 onroad cars
i picked one of these up in trade as well. It started life as a GTR, but I converted it to a 69 camaro. I swapped out the plastic canards for the front foam bumper, and removed the rear plastic canards. I have a traxxas velenium in it on a dynamite ESC. i put in a very fast KO-PROPO steering servo, and the vaterra aluminum oil filled shocks, as well as the vaterra camber adjustment kit. I use it solely for indoor road course racing on the local hobby shops indoor carpet track. I did run the vaterra 69 camaro body, but found out after one night of racing, and me getting used to the car, and racing again, that the body isn't all that tough! The replacement body is an HPI 70 Challenger in hemi orange with a black hood, and the T/A stripe kit. It looks pretty sharp, and I loaded the strapping tape, and shoe-goo to the inside of the nose to make it last through my beatings. As far as the tire wear, i have noticed that its pretty bad. It seems to wear heavily on the inside of the tread surface. I thought it was toe, and camber, but then I realized that its actually from the soft tires, and the soft foam inserts. the tire is rolling over and causing it to wear kind of funky. If you look at the outside side wall of the worn tires, you will notice that the writing is worn down from the tire rolling inwards as well. I was going to get some stiffer inserts, but cant find any thing that comes in 30mm wide to match the stock tire and wheel. i think i am going to swap to a medium compound slick, and medium inserts, and see what happens. I run the car on 2S lipo, and it is a complete blast to drive and race! couldnt be happier with the purchase! |

I just ordered one with the Nissan Silvia body. I plan to swap to the ss camaro body, and I will be swapping out the brushed system with the brushless system I took out of my yeti. Should be a fun little car when im done.

Stock Camaro SS, 28T pinion, 77T spur, 3300Kv on 2s. Speed GPS recorded at 29 mph at 80-85% throttle. This is about the limit for my skill & driving ability. Quickest RC I have driven.

Currently, I am running the same setup as Axialguy. However, I will be converting to 3S with factory gearing. Be prepared to buy new tires.

I will probably run mostly stock gearing. I did order the optional 65t spur and a 39t pinion for some shits and giggles speed runs.

Looks good! It'll be really nice once you are brushless. Can't wait to hear how it performs.

They are very nice cars for what they are.... But they have NO caster or camber adjustment like a good TC.... |

Yeah im surprised no one has came up with a way to fix that. To me though its really not a issue. I dont plan to do any competitive racing.
