Looking to replace the servo horn (servo saver) that comes stock on the V100. Anyone have any recommendations on a servo horn that fits/works? The angle of the servo saver looks different than a traditional horn.

The Subaru WRC is a 190mm HPI shell. The wheels are factory Vaterra Volk Racing wheels. I am unable to locate the offset, however, here are the part numbers for front (54x26) and rear (54x30): VTR43021 and VTR43022.

Lexan slides a long way on asphalt at those speeds lol.

What's the best fix for the ballooning problem? Foam tires?

Again my setup is stock yeti electronics (3150kv) 3s 39t pinion 65t spur
I had forgotten about this thread, I'm glad it's still alive! These are cool cars.

I've still got my '69 Vette. I'm having this same problem with tires ballooning. The stock tires were terrible. Caused me to flip a couple times. I've got a Castle 7700kv in it with 24t pinion and of course running on 2s. It does about 30mph at half throttle. It's scary when you go full throttle.

I'm running HPI vintage wheels and tires on it now. They balloon less, but it's still there. I am able to hit full throttle now without the tires hitting on the body so bad, but it's still squirrely as hell. I also caved and went back to AWD.. It was just so uncontrollable, especially once I went with this motor.

Sorry about crappy pic quality. best I could do at the time. has anyone run foam tires on pavement? I assume it would work much better, if they got even decent traction, we're just talking for straight line speed runs.

has anyone tried to duct tape the inside of the tires to prevent balloning? I don't have one of these yet...but soon!

Jus,

I was thinking of getting the HPI vintage 5 spoke for my 67 Mustang. It would then look almost exactly like the car I drove in high school. Did you have to do any modifications to get them to fit? I'm guessing the calipers need to go, but wasn't sure if anything else needed to be trimmed away.

Thanks!

Yes the calipers need to be taken off. The front tires get extremely close to the tie rods but I haven't had an issue with it. The rears are fine.

I might try the slicks next. Even with AWD I've burned through the rears twice as fast as the fronts.

I am glad to see this thread is still alive. I recently went with a 32 pinion 71 spur 3800KV on 3S. Haven't had the chance to air it out, but with my old set up (30 pinion 77 spur 3S) I tapped out at 50 MPH.

I don't have a problem with ballooning tires hitting the body. Also, that is with Vaterra 30MM tires on the front and rear. All the HPI bodies I have used worked well so far.

Sure. My car is on the top shelf at the moment. Absolutely no place to run it in the winter time so I haven't even thought about it in a while.

Oh, I hear ya. I've been testing out my new Mamba Max Pro ESC 5700KV setup.

Update: 70mph run today.

how the hell are you keeping the tires together? I can't do speed runs with my 7700kv without the tires ballooning so bad they hit the body. I've gotten it better but I doubt I'm even hitting 50 the way I have it geared.

Haha. Well, I have gone through a few sets of tires. The last set just happened to stay together. Currently running: Vaterra 26MM front, 30MM rear wheels. 26MM Vaterra slicks up front and 31MM Falken slicks on the rear. I get some tire rub on the rear of the shell, that is about it.

Running an HPI 190MM 350Z Fairlady shell. Keeping it grounded is my biggest issue. Other than that, it handles fine.

Here is a shot of my test hit shell:
