Retired the RX-7 body today. Beleive it or not, at high speed the body made the SS dart to the left and right. It was uncontrollable. Went back to the factory SS body and now it works great.

Ok I have a problem. Tried a speed run today and was not successful. i went to the local high school parking lot and strapped in a 3s battery and my gps. When I attempted the speed run the tires ballooned so bad that they hung the body, and the car ended up on its roof. I was able to click off a 64mph run with some throttle left. Lexan slides a long way on asphalt at those speeds lol. What's the best fix for the ballooning problem? Foam tires? Again my setup is stock yeti electronics (3150kv) 3s 39t pinion 65t spur |

I would like to buy the two mustang bodys from vaterra. I'm just curious if they drilled the holes already in the bodies. I'm using a tamiya chassis for drifting and I don't want to have 4 useless holes in the body. Can anyone who bought an unpainted body from vaterra help me out? Thanks Andreas |

My Vaterra GTR GT3 unpainted body came with holes pre-drilled. I don't know about the Mustang body.

littletoyboy ....... Dang, that is smoking! How did you manage to control the V100? What was the temperature of the ESC, motor and servo? If you wanna stick with that set up, what about using a harder compound tire? Body mod? Also, what about lowering your pinion? Note: I only run 1/10 crawlers. On road is very new to me. Littleboy, first I should mention that I have limited experience with road cars. My main interest is 1/10 RC crawlers where speed is secondary. With that said I will try to give you my two cents worth. Even with 2s I have noticed tire ballooning, but this has not created tire rubbing on my car. You might want to try harder compound tires or enlarge the fender openings. I recommend installing higher gearing to reduce wheel speed. Even with stock gearing and 2s I find that the car is difficult to keep straight at full throttle. On 3s I can only reach 50-60% throttle before the car starts wandering and I have to back-off. I can only imagine what it was like at your top speed.

Actually I have not ran it on 2s. The only reason I geared it the way I did is to do high speed runs just for the fun of it. As far as the esc temp goes. I was only running the car for short burst, so nothing ever got hot. Whenever I plan to take it out and drive it for long periods of time I will change the gearing back to stock. Right now im just trying to have fun and push the limits of both me and the car |

Sounds good! There are some videos online showing how bad the tires balloon at high speeds. Also, it shows the tire actually separating from the wheel. It is wild and worth checking out.

Received Lexus SC body yesterday & mounted it this morning on my Camaro SS V100. Overall I am satisfied with the fitment, but looking closer I noticed that all the sponsor decals & badging are bogus (Lexus emblem is backwards, Toyota is misspelled, Sunoco is misspelled, etc.). Body came with two boot wing options. The body shell material is not as rigid as the Vaterra body - it is more flimsy than what I prefer. I can't recommend buying this particular body. If you really want to put in the time and effort, check out HPI 190mm bodies. They are all sponsored. I am working on a 350Z NISMO / FAIRLADY. Last edited by RC4413; 12-11-2014 at 08:30 PM. |
