I asked a simple question and was simply looking for a simple answer.
I will likely be there no matter where it is, no need to be dickus'.

An East Coaster getting offended? You're getting soft. I thought you guys lived for drama and rowdiness. And I am never serious about anything unless my wife doesn't let me eat the leftover cake batter in the mixing bowl.

Anywho, I only posted the map pic cause that is what was in my head when I was blabbing about east/west stuff.

It's dead serious. After all these are toy trucks we're all playing with and there's big bucks on the line.

If this is where the line is drawn that's totally cool.

Well if this is turned into a big jack off session nothing productive will get done.

These are not toy trucks!!!!
These trucks are our choice of weapon as fighting men to do battle with.

IMO, this is one of the biggest issues with having these events. I know it is not always practical to find an area close to a major airport, but the idea of flying into an airport that has crop dusters parked on the runway, or flying in and then driving 3-5 hours sucks.

There is a reason they do not have SEMA and CES 300 miles from a major city with a real airport. I would say I saw more people bring families, kids, wifes, etc to Vegas than any other event I have been to. I know there is Rock capable of a National within 30 minutes of Phoenix SKy Harbor. I am sure there are areas closer to cities that have cheap rooms, cheaper airfare, more variety of things to do. If this niche is to grow its time to plan a little further ahead than 90 days. and try to include family friendly locations in the process.

It's convenient for it to be on the edge major cities and airports, but that usually isn't where the best rock is. To me Nats means driving on world class rock. I'd rather drive an hour from the airport to crawl on great rock, than crawl in a warehouse full of rip rap between the airport and Hooters. (an exaggeration obviously)

For example, Vegas was fun and convenient (and I'm not knocking it) but the rock was just ok. The rock in Red Rocks Canyon just a little farther is world class.

The rock in the pics above in RI looks really killer, on the ocean, huge. I would deal with a little drive for a location like that.

It's been a while since nats has been in Moab. And there is this place in Gunnison Colorado that would be incredible IMO called Hartman's Rocks. it's Open to motorized vehicles so I know crawlers wouldn't be an issue.

If only all National / State Parks and forests were cool with Crawler events then we would be all set Imagine that... RMNP, SMNP, Big Bend TX, Arcadia, the Gunks, etc. etc...

Has anyone considered Private Ride parks? Badlands in Attica In or Superlift in Hotsprings Ar both have great rock and are used to holding events. I spoke with Kyle at Badlands a few years back so, I know he is up for an event.

The only issue with Superlift at Hot Springs is the rock formations are away from the main check in/cabin area. You would need trucks/4x4 rigs to get to the cool spots and then you would have to walk some. We built a small crawl area and terra-x course up by the cabins to showcase during 1:1 events.

But you are right on the idea, they let us hold all our ARCC events, even in conjunction with 1:1 events. Knox and crew are great hosts.

I agree with wanting great rock. And driving out into the middle of nowhere, then hiking out a mile from the parking lot, in an area without extra activities is the reason they have 30-40 drivers at events that had 100+ a few years back.

You are right, those comps will get the ladys out quick.

The idea comp spot would be at a 5 star hotel with 2 star rates, class 1 rocks outside of it next to the parking lot. 15 resturants down the street, casino, mall for the girls, amusment park for the kiddies, beaches for all, and tons of activties to do while we have a event..

Hawaii has these spots, but we'll have to pay for the 5 star hotel.

I have been in the quarry area a bunch of times at the BADLANDS, other than Purgatory there really isnt a whole lot of places that are ideal for r/c crawlers...most of the rock is riprap or its way too large anyway. And getting back and forth from the entrance to the quarry will be an inconvience. Besides the Badlands will charge everyone just to enter. I do love that place its awesome. The FALLS OF THE OHIO has all that is listed above. EXCEPT the 5 for 2 deals. Do you want 100+ people? Then have it smack in the middle of everybody.

We have some killer rock in korea. Damn country is mountain, And not to mention its pretty damn far east lol. Id like to know as well where I need to buy tickets too, plane tickets from here get to be around 1800 at minimum these days. Not to mention buying them less than 3 months out is not an option. Lets commit, id love to join nats this year with some korean drivers.

Thanks,
ORK
